This has got to be a misprint!

After the past 3 years of unbridled spending by Congress, 2 years with Bush and now with the king of tax and spend, they would like us to believe they are looking for ways to reduce the budget deficit..... This is a mid-term election ploy, but if you read they want it to be bi-partisan, as the libs are looking at additional tax increases.
With all the time and money this bunch of looney tunes hae spent, and are planning to borrow and raise taxes to spend on a health care package that will raise premiums, and cover about 2% of Americans. We are talking about over $1 trillion dollars for another approximately 6 million Americans that may be covered. That is over $165,000 each, sort of sounds like their stimulous package. Monica was cheaper and provided more stimulation, and hell, she was just an intern!
Peloski, Reid, Barney, and BO, need to see their collective shrinks on this one!

Accordining to the report they will be looking at additional taxes to cut the deficit! Cut it out now! We are all BROKE and if not now, soon to be unemployed, or working for the government. I guess if they raise our taxes much more, there won't be any need to work they will be taking more than we get, and then they talk about raising minimum wage to create a living wage, no, it is to increase tax receipts only!

Hey Demo's fix this first!

The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935.. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.

Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Democrats have a long track record of cutting spending (on defense).
The other side of the coin in this article is increasing taxes.
More redistribution of wealth.
If you do some research, FDR wanted a 99% tax bracket for those making a million dollars a year.

A good start for you kent, would be to not vote for this healthcare bill. Nest wouuld be for you to kill Cap and Trade. Thirdly slash Capital Gains to about 10%, and finally, go to a flat tax (Even Russia has a flat tax) of about 15% across the board.

You'll have more money than you know how to waste- although we are talking about congress.

And how would the proposed trillion-dollar healthcare plan help cut the deficit?

The first step in reigning in healthcare costs should be ending the anti-trust exemption for insurance companies.

actually:'tax and spend' is WHAT WE WANT...

What is harmful, is 'spend and borrow (from future generations, and CHINA)'...

The 'beast' IS Congress, not the Dems or Reps within it; they're on the 'same team', in the 'same sport', and they want to monopolize the money-channel.

Woe be it that 453 NON-Republicans, and NON-Dems, were to walk into Congress in 2010, and put the country back together... US businesses would be scared to 'death'.

Democrats have presented an honest budget - unlike the Budgets which the Cheney-Bush Administration presented, which had major expenditures off-the-books, in so-called emergency legislation - especially the war funding. Even so, during the 6 years of the Bush Administration and a Republican Congress, earmark spending increased greatly. and other spending also. and borrowing. Now Republicans want to pretend that was not so, or say we need to forget about the past. But since September of 2008, there has been a real emergency need for additional U. S. government spending, to offset the decline in consumer and business spending, and even state spending due to their requried balanced budgets. the economy would have collapsed even more drastically without the stimulus bill, including tax breaks for most Americans, a $250 rebate for older Americans, extensions of unemployment compensation, aid to states to keep needed public employees (teachers, cops, firefighters) on the payroll, and aid for infrastructure construction projects such as road repair, to employ more people during the summer and fall. All the salaries paid to these people then are spent and go toward creating a multiplier effect, as they buy things in local stores, and create more consumer demand. The same stimulus effect happened with the cash for clunkers program, and first-time homebuilders program. Unfortunately, the IRS had its investigative functions weakened during the Bush Administration, and their bureaucracy is not geared up adequately to go after the cheaters. That does need to be fixed, and the fraudulent claims prosecuted.

ent Conrad is like Paul Tsongas was - a bi-partisan advocate for a more balanced budget, and he intends to work for it, on a bi-partisan basis, as soon as possible after the recovery is secure. His record has emphasized this since he first ran for the seante. the Concord Coalition was started by Tsongas and Warren Rudman, to try to get more emphasis on a balanced budget. David Walker, now at the Petersen Institute, is another one who is since and worried and helpfulon this subject. It does not help when Republican hypocrites and liars are only for reducing domestic spending and earmarks when Democrats are in power, and want to spend wildly on earmarks and military spending. That is why some of the true consrevatives, like Jeff flake of Arizona, speak out agaisnt all earmarks that do not seem justified, and he states detailed and interesting reasons for his views. A few others in the House side with him. But often other Republicans want to protect their own earmarks.

Extreme partisans are often not rational thinkers or honest debaters. So none of the commenters eemed interesting to reply to. but a true fiscal consrvative would be interesting. too bad the right-wing nut-cases and partisan hacks are running the true conservatives out of power, just as they ran out the liberals and moderates, in the GOP. If Judd Gregg is too cooperative, the right-wing extremists will call him a RINO, again. As one wrote before, "he is from New England, you know."

There is nothing honest about a democrat. They do everything behind closed doors. And just like honest Obama said... "I will not add a dime to the deficit..." Yeah, that was right. He added trillions!

obama has told the truth a few times. Like when he predicted the economy would take a looooong time to recover. Or like when he stated that he's not an economist. Or that he would pass new taxes. Or the time he promised there would be a "new normal".

There might also be a minor dust-up over a financial matter.
