He like a tree. Stand around and grow old.

Twitter and blogs are abuzz about Inouye possibly watering down Sen. Franken's bill that would prohibit government contractors from restricting workers from suing if they are sexually assaulted while on the job. I hope the Star Bulletin tracks that story.
Example of what's on Twitter:
@CelluloidBlonde IMPORTANT: RT @bryaneder Dem Inouye trying to accomplish what 30 Repub Sens couldn't http://bit.ly/1pZqbF
Will his 47 years of service be tarnished by his condoning rape?

Danny should hang it up!!!!!!!!

Inouye became an immoral embarrassment long ago.
#6 Dec 7, 2009
Yes, and he STILL IS - for those of us old enough to remember......

He is Hawaii's life line to Federal funding. With our crippled non-diversified local economy, Dan's good work keeps Hawaii afloat. Keep going Senator; we need to perfect cloning procedures.

Was that after he singlehandedly rushed and incapacitated the German machine gun nests in W.W. II?
"On April 21, 1945, with the war in Europe in its final days, they were given orders to attack a heavily defended ridge, Colle Musatello. As he led his men up the slope, three machine gun nests began firing at them and Inouye was hit in the abdomen. He continued to lead his men up the slope, hurled a grenade to knock out the first machine gun nest, then killed its crew with his tommy gun. He silenced the next gun with two more grenades. As he pulled the pin on yet another and got ready to throw it into the third machine gun nest, German shrapnel nearly severed Inouye's right arm. Somehow, with his left hand, he pried his dead fingers from the live grenade and threw it, then started up the hill again. He was hit again in the leg, and tumbled down the hillside.
At the aid station, Inouye was given morphine - so much morphine that when surgeons at a field hospital began to amputate his shattered arm he had to endure it without anesthetic. For his heroism under fire, Daniel Inouye would receive the Medal of Honor."
What did you do? Pffft.

He is a shining example of why term limits are needed for every political office.
If everyone had a maximum of two terms, we wouldn't run into situations like the one we will have to deal with when he is finally gone.

Hawaii's hanging on to this old crook for federal handouts is just pathetic. Hawaii...get a groip and get an economy that works.

And heeeeeeeeere is some of the 'good' Senator's work:
Daniel Inouye on Drugs
Democratic Sr Senator (HI)
Voted NO on increasing penalties for drug offenses: The amendment would specifically target the manufacturing or trafficking of amphetamines & methamphetamines and possession of powder cocaine, and set stronger penalties for dealing drugs
Reference: Bill S.625 ; vote number 1999-360 on Nov 10, 1999
Voted NO on spending international development funds on drug control.
Vote to add an additional $53 million (raising the total to $213 million) to international narcotics control funding, and pay for it by taking $25 million from international operations funding and $28 million from development assistance.
Reference: Bill HR 3540 ; vote number 1996-244 on Jul 25, 1996
Rated 100% by the AFL-CIO, indicating a pro-union voting record.
Inouye scores 100% by the AFL-CIO on union issues
Inouye scores 12% by NTU on tax-lowering policies:
Every year National Taxpayers Union (NTU) rates U.S. Representatives and Senators on their actual votes—every vote that significantly affects taxes, spending, debt, and regulatory burdens on consumers and taxpayers. NTU assigned weights to the votes, reflecting the importance of each vote’s effect. NTU has no partisan axe to grind. All Members of Congress are treated the same regardless of political affiliation. Our only constituency is the overburdened American taxpayer. Grades are given impartially, based on the Taxpayer Score. The Taxpayer Score measures the strength of support for reducing spending and regulation and opposing higher taxes. In general, a HIGHER score is better because it means a Member of Congress voted to LESSEN or limit the burden on TAXPAYERS The Taxpayer Score can range between zero and 100. We do not expect anyone to score a 100, nor has any legislator ever scored a perfect 100 in the multi-year history of the comprehensive NTU scoring system. High-scoring Members have indicated that they would vote for many programs if the amount of spending were lower. A Member who wants to increase spending on some programs can achieve a high score if he or she votes for offsetting cuts in other programs. A zero score would indicate that the Member of Congress approved every spending proposal and opposed every pro-taxpayer reform.

Inouye's crooked life term in Congress has ruined the economy of the Hawaiian Islands which began some 40 years ago. Today, our State has reached the point of bankruptcy and this is due primarily by Inouye's crooked influence over our State government. He has total control of the DOE's nearly THREE BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET and these valuable tax dollars are distributed to his friends and relatives. This is not a small operation but involves past governors, past and present legislators, a very silent Superintendent, an inept BOE, usless HSTA, and many other organizations that received pork barrel funding through the efforts of the one armed bandit.

A vote against cloture is a vote to kill the bill. A Senator may vote for cloture and then express himself in opposition to the bill by voting against the bill.

What you posted is the account written by the writer. Inouye received the Distinguished Service Cross and was later upgraded to the Congressional Medal of Honor on the basis of the same written report. But, according to the veterans(many have pased on) in the 442-100 clubhouse, the writer wrote an excellent report. However, this report is not acknowledged by the veterans in the field in World War II. Get the facts straight before you post of the so called heroics of Sen. Inouye in battle.

Inouye: Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government.
Voting YES would declare English as the national language of the Government of the US. Unless specifically provided by statute, no person would have an entitlement to have the Government of the US communicate or provide materials in any language other than English. If an exception is made with respect to the use of a language other than English, the exception does not create a legal entitlement to additional services in that language. If any form is issued by the Federal Government in a language other than English, the English language version of the form is the sole authority for all legal purposes. Nothing in this amendment shall prohibit the use of a language other than English.

Here is Inouye's 'justification:'
I believe the American people understand in order to succeed in our society, immigrants need to learn English. But the amendment would do a number of things that are problematical. The first is that it is contrary to the provisions of law that exist in many States. For example, in New Mexico, you have in their State Constitution, a provision that says that many of the documents within that State have to be provided in both English and Spanish. The same thing is true for the State of Hawaii. I believe this is a States rights issue, and those constitutions of those States ought to be respected. I do not believe it is a matter we ought to be imposing here from Washington DC.
Also, this amendment would undo an executive order conceived by President Bill Clinton and implemented by President George Bush. Both recognized it is important that people who have limited English proficiency receive the kinds of services so they can understand what is going on in terms of the interface between the Government and themselves.

Inouye voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
"To reduce document fraud, prevent identity theft, and preserve the integrity of the Social Security system, by ensuring that persons who receive an adjustment of status under this bill are not able to receive Social Security benefits as a result of unlawful activity."
And we know how well it's working.....

So you are pissing on the Senator's war record without providing any source? What did you see on that fateful day in Northern Italy?
Take your own advice. If you want to disparage the heroics of the good Senator, prove your point or shut your piehole.:)
#19 Dec 7, 2009
There is no official record or source. The war veterans that came back home were tight lipped about Inouye. As Inouye grew in stature and hoodwinked people like you to believe he is a good Senator, the story of his war record was rarely discussed. But what the veterans revealed in the inner sanctum of the clubhouse was very interesting because it was contrary to the public reports. Most of the true facts are now securely six feet under ground. Maybe two or three veterans are left but they will not talk so you are safe spouting off your praise for the one armed bandit.

The Attorney General and the DNI, both appointed by the President, have the power under the Protect America Act to order any American to help them conduct their electronic spying against other Americans. Under the new law, if they order you to take part in their spying operations, and you say no, they can throw you in prison. If you do not keep their spying on other Americans a secret, even from your family, they can throw you in prison.
The Protect America Act institutes Big Brother government in the United States. It betrays American liberty. It is a shame that the Act passed. Shame on Senator Inouye for voting YES.

Senator Daniel K. Inouye REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY RESPONSES TO CITIZENS ON ISSUES THROUGH THE 2004 NATIONAL POLITICAL AWARENESS TEST
Senator Daniel K. Inouye REFUSED TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION WHEN ASKED TO DO SO BY:
Major News Organizations and key national leaders of both parties including,
John McCain, Republican Senator
Geraldine Ferraro, Former Democratic Congresswoman
Michael Dukakis, Former Democratic Governor
Bill Frenzel, Former Republican Congressman
Richard Kimball, Project Vote Smart President
What is the Political Courage Test?
The Political Courage Test is a key component of Project Vote Smart's Voter Self-Defense system. Major leaders of the media, major parties and Project Vote Smart repetitiously ask candidates one central question: "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?" The Political Courage Test is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices.
The Political Courage Test asks candidates which items they will SUPPORT if elected.
It does not ask them to indicate which items they will OPPOSE.
Through extensive research of public polling data, we discovered that voters are more concerned with what candidates would support when elected to office, not what they oppose. If a candidate does not select a response to any part or all of any question, it does not necessarily indicate that the candidate is opposed to that particular item.
Why is the Political Courage Test important?
At a time when Americans are increasingly frustrated with the attack advertising and empty rhetoric of many campaigns, the need for this relevant information has never been greater.
The public integrity of candidates and the quality of their campaigns can be viewed, in part, as a measurement of their willingness to provide their prospective employers (voters) with this information during a campaign, the point when voters need the most help and when the candidates are asking for their vote.
Issues covered in the 2008 Political Courage Test are:
-Budgetary, Spending and Tax Issues
-Campaign Finance and Governmental Reform Issues
-International Aid, International Policy and International Trade
-National Security Issues
-Environmental and Energy Issues
-Social Security Issues
-Welfare and Poverty Issues
