Feds have to reduce cost of gasoline
by $2.00 per gallon like was 2-yrs ago and maybe USA stands a chance of recovering. This must be done before point of no return, which is soon. We're in this hole because of greed in politics! Americans are getting surrcharged $$$ to death because of one thing...the cost of gasoline.

actually, it's just that our long free lunch is ending. Gas is nowhere NEAR as heavily taxed here as it is elsewhere in the world. Since it was so cheap here, people thought nothing of buying enormous heaps of metal to transport themselves and building McMansions so they could fit their egos under the cathedral ceilings. Dumb.

and about the farmers: too right! how come big agribusiness gets these huge subsidies, but the farmers right here on LI (who actually grow things you can eat) have to struggle?

“U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) convened a special hearing to address the issue of the global food crisis”

GREAT, Chucky on it, this problem will be solved in no time. Now onto more important things, like why hot dogs come 10 to a pack and buns are 8 to a pack.

I would just like to know why Charles (I love a TV Camera) Schumer most likely at taxpayer expense, had this local baker testify in Washington.

Are the damn elected official's in Washington that insulated from American life, they need a baker to tell them bread costs more?

Anyone of 250 million or so citizen's and 50 million illegals could have saved the air fare, and told those bumbling office seekers by telephone a dollar isn't worth too much anymore. WAY TO GO CHUCK!

You figure Richard Ringwald would do his part by implementing a 3 dollar surcharge on all products so customers wont eat his cholesterol laden food products.

Reinwald's has been over-priced for years - now it's time for THEM to PAY - just like they've ripped off their customers for years. Come on, $30 for a CAKE made of flour and eggs. I'm talking 7-8 years ago. That's ridiculous. I don't feel sorry for Reinwald's.

Why pay so much to the bakery only to get sick and overweight. Avoid the whites ; sugar and flour. Eat organic foods free of hormones and pesticides .Instead consume free range ,grass fed meat .Drink freshly juiced veggies and fruits . Spend less on doctors /sickness .Ps the strawberry cakes sounds tantalizing .

ETHANOL
ETHANOL

newsday intentionally omitted the key point in his testimony.

ETHANOL and the BIOFUEL SCAM have driven up the cost for food as well as gasoline. Mr. Reinwald mentioned it several times in his testimony but Newsday leaves it out.

We need to ELIMINATE CORN BASED ETHANOL as a fuel additive.
