Schumer aid plan would help pay for home heating oil

While record-high gas prices are putting a crimp in Long Islanders' pocketbooks this summer, soaring home heating oil costs will be a shock this winter, Sen.

So essentially given the rapid rise of heating costs for all households, they want to jump government subsidies by 2 billion dollars or so of taxpayer money to help low income households...

Which means the taxpayers who aren't 'poor enough' have to not only shoulder the rising cost for their households but pay for the poors' heating costs as well in these harsh economic times?

Redistribution of wealth + scarcity + economic chaos = Communism

How ironic, isn't Bernie Sanders the one out of closet socialist in the congress?

More welfare that working stiffs have to pay for.

Get rid of liberals like Schumer who devalued the dollar and spend like drunken sailors and we wouldn't need these handouts.

Prepare for higher taxes to pay for this.

New York Times reported that hedge fund managers have a new champion in their effort to keep legally dodging the taxes the rest of us pay: none other than New York Senator Charles Schumer. Now you know who is Schumer's friend and why he caused the bank run on Indymac. He truly support hedge fund and private equity because they truly support him.

"And do remember that there are many investment bankers located in New York, making them pretty influential constituents of Sen. Schumer."

"In a Sunday news conference, he said everything in his letter was already known to the public."
If it was already known to the public, what is the reason for his public letter? It is contradict to what he said previouly :"I just bring private message to the public. Do not kill the messanger." What a great liar from time to time!

To be poor enough to get aid for fuel oil you have to be so poor you haven't been eating every day! I'm over 60 on fixed income and SS is enough to put my income to high for aid. Who is being helped??

Chuck Schumer has been redistributing wealth TO THE SAME BILLIONAIRES AS HAVE THE Republicans for some time now.

He is PRO War.

He did nothing to stop the deregulation of the banks

He has done nothing to stop the Rape of the Body Politics by our Corporate Driven health care system. Chuck Schumer: one of the best Republican Senators out there!

You mean welfare for Billionaires!

That money should come from a MASSIVE WINDFALL PROFITS TAX ON THE OIL COMPANIES. But Chucks paid not to utter those words!

Same thing he did for FRE and FNM, he forced FRE and FNM to buy $145 billion bad loans last September. So his hedge fund friend could short the stock, then his private equity friend could take huge discount to acquire the properties. So obvious criminal acts, but he is still out law and do whatever to harm the American and benefit himself and his friends.

Jason:

While Im all for strong and just criticism of Senator Schumer for his
Oscar winning performance as a bribed and sleeping watchdog, what about
the Republicans?

Do you have any criticism for THEIR role in all this Bipartisan Corporate
Plunder of the taxpayer, whom both see as essentially serfs to be exploited-- and confussed by performances of rehearsed enmity while secretly they are working together, on the big Stuff!??

What really would have helped Schumer was if you didn't vote against off-shore drilling and drilling in ANWR ten years ago, cause then prices would be down for EVERYONE, not just the freeloading lower class looking for handouts.

Which part? The part of 86% of democrats voted against offshore drilling? Check the Senate voting record. And by your tune, I bet you're part of that class I make reference to in the second part.

DRILLING WILL DO NOTHING TO LOWER THE COST OF OIL. It will only raise oil stock prices further. Ten years before they even get any oil out of the wells. and then our King-allies will just hold back on supply to make up the difference.

I know its hard not to only read oil industry talking points since they are on all the TV channels but give it a try!

I am a high school teacher. The freeloading class who is getting the massive handouts are the oil companies and defense contractors . Buy maybe you are profiting off all the death, so its something you'd rather not think about. No problem, our Corporate Media will make it easy to disconnect the dots!

You're a high school teacher, I'm guessing you don't teach economics, since you obviously know nothing about the laws of supply & demand. And yes it will take time to drill these wells, which is why I'm ripping Schumer and Clinton for voting against it ten years ago. They also vetoed the coal to gas process, which would provide $25 a barrel crude oil with enough to last America (with consideration for growth) for the next 250 years.
