I don't want any fu#king bill.

I want the current immigration laws ENFORCED.

no special treatment for these illegals. they are foreigners. and as such, if they are found, DEPORT. no airplane rides. just confiscate everything they have, put them on a cheap bus, and take them to the border.

Any bill that excuses illegal behavior, whether it be from the employer or employee, simply cannot be good for the average worker...period. This administation and those that came before it, who have ignored this issue, failed to uphold the laws for which they took an oath. We simply do not need a rerun of the '86 debacle.

Teddy, what is your view on motor vehicle laws? Every day in every state thousands of dangerous drives violate the law and are given tickets. Then every day thousands of people pay the fines to cover their civil violations and then move on with their lives.

Unlawful presence in the US is also a civil violation, but you are clearly against "excusing" these violations. Do you feel the same way about wreakless drives that put people in danger as you feel about nannies without papers?

Clearly you would never agree to let somebody drive again after they have broken the law. Simply paying a fine would be "amnesty" so that is off the table. So what are you suggesting? Life in prison for drivers that choose not obey to law.

The point is that being in this country illegally should garner tougher consequences for illegal entry, period. Severe penalties may discourage illegals from sneaking in.

That is a different topic. Nobody would disagree with tougher sanctions in the future, but we have to deal with the people here now. To single out one particular civil violation for zero tolerance under any all circumstances while allowing people who violated any of the other thousands of civic laws on the books with a means of redemption is inconsistent at best.

consistent would be to just enforce the current immigration laws.

now, that would be consistent with normal procedure.

What is this normal procedure you fantasize about? Obama deported more people in less than five years than his predecessor did in eight. He also deported more people than the previous 17 Presidents COMBINED.

Look, Memo, many of these folks have been removed more than once, and the consequences for returning are supposed to be stiffer, yet nothing happens. We continue to pretend that we don't see them. If enforcement of our laws had been a priority for this and prior administrations, we wouldn't find ourselves in the pickle we are in.

Net illegal immigration has been less than zero since 2005.

I guess you don't read the articles that state that the illegals as deported two or three times prior to beingpicked up for perpetrating the newest offense. I don't make this stuff up, the facts are out there for even you to see.

These are a very small minority of undocumented people and the penalties are significantly more severe the second time around.

As has been widely report net migration between the US and Mexico has been at less then net zero since 2005. That is the elephant in the room in this whole debate. Nobody is coming.

http://knowledge.allianz.com/demography/migra...

Beyond that the issues we have with illegal immigrants in the US is a self-created problem.

We basically had an open border since the founding of the country until the 1990's. Every year for the past 150 years people would come north for a few months, usually in the summer and then return home in the winter. Nobody liked the idea, but the constant ebb and flow kept the numbers stable.

In the 1990's some groups realized there was profit to be made in stoking people's fears and then there was a new emphasis on the border. Sounds reasonable on the surface until you consider the unintended consequences.

It became much more difficult to cross the border and it was often necessary to pay large sums to smugglers. The result was that people no longer returned home after a few months. It was so difficult and expensive to cross the border that they had to stay much longer to make it economically feasible. Many stay for years now and either bring their families or start families here. That is where your 11 million came from.

Whether you like it or not, there is a good deal of evidence that suggests that the border security is keeping more people in the country then it is keeping out.

The problem is exacerbated by ridiculous US immigration laws that actually penalize undocumented people who voluntarily want to leave the country. That is the type of thing we should be encouraging, but we do the exact opposite.
