We don't have a taxing problem. It's a spending problem. Were these taxes 'recovered', they'd be squandered.

The article fails to mention that most if not all of this money is taxes by the host country.

Tax evaders hiding money. How much is kept in Russia? This one of the Republicans signature tax policies intent to drive America bankrupt.

If they dont want to pay their fair share its only right to close access to American markets for their products and services

Woodrow Wilson, a democrat, introduced deferment with the first corporate tax policy back in 1913.

Then the company taking advantage of these "host" countries low tax structures should either repatriate to that country, and pay a tariff to have their parts or products shipped here to the US, or let's just change the loopholes allowing these companies to store these profits indefinitely.

They are simply taking advantage of loopholes.

Common republican retort.

Spending problems occur when large corporations are given free reign to hide their earnings offshore. Reagan illuminated this with his Voodoo Economics theory. It's why he inevitably ended up raising taxes 7 times after slashing the upper tax brackets by 50% in one fell swoop in 1981 / less revenue does NOT mean you can operate a government more efficiently.

Especially when he expanded government after running on a platform that "government is the problem".

Not to mention he tripled the deficit during his tenure - a direct result of cutting tax revenue and spending more. And who do you guys blame automatically?

The poor and the old.

You think reasonable people buy this nonsense anymore?

In 1913 Barrons were not storing $2.1 trillion to evade income taxes.

They weren't being double taxed either. Under the current law they are taxed by the host country and then another 35% when the money is repatriated.

What a load of hokum. As Obama has demonstrated year after year, spending has no connection to taxes actually collected.

Run along, you're embarrassing yourself.

You obviously embarrass yourself without any logical retort. Nor supplementing facts.

Now, time for work - you should try it sometime.

Barry's spending has no connection to fiscal reality.

Supplementing facts? Are you kidding?

True of false -- Obama has spent more every year than taxes raised.

Thus, taxes collected have nothing to do with spending.

Sheesh... you're thicker than usual today.

Wait a second there, Moth.

You teabaggers are always bragging that the HOUSE controls the purse springs and has to approve spending.

So, which is it?

Answer - partially true.

Fact - deficit spending is at its lowest levels in 40 years;

"The federal budget deficit has fallen sharply during the past few years, and it is on a path to decline further this year and next year. CBO estimates that under current law, the deficit will total $514 billion in fiscal year 2014, compared with $1.4 trillion in 2009. At that level, this year’s deficit would equal 3.0 percent of the nation’s economic output, or gross domestic product (GDP)—close to the average percentage of GDP seen during the past 40 years. "

All Corporations should send their money overseas. Then maybe the greedy Politicians would recognize their value. And the lazy, and the shiftless would have to do with a lot less. They might have to (gasp) get jobs.
