After election euphoria, liberals begin to worry about the political fights to come

Nov 21, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Washington Post

Just two weeks ago, liberals rejoiced over their strongest election showing in decades - re-electing Barack Obama , picking up seats in Congress and scoring historic state ballot victories that legalized same-sex marriage and recreational marijuana.

<quoted text>
It only mattered to gullible losing idiots like you who believed the propaganda that fox news and right-wing radio pumped into that empty head of your day in and day out for the last 4 years. All that matters is that we rejected your brand of hate and re-elected the guy who single-handedly found and killed Osama bin Laden.
<quoted text>
I love the fact that you feel it was a slap in the face, take it personal because that’s exactly how we meant it… the next thing you’ll feel will be the equivalent of being slapped with a sledgehammer as Obama will get whatever he wants with the mandate we sent him back with and the 3 new Supreme Court Justices that will tilt the court back to the Progressive left, LOL.

Beware, one day YOU might be "running for president, for Pete's sake!" LOL
I cut my acre + yard myself. I've never hired anyone to cut it.

Employers of illegals don't go to jail because of our corrupt politicians.

No, I won't be running for president. I hate public speaking.

“In 1986 Senator Kennedy said,‘This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.’
No, I'm saying Alan Simpson of his own volition crafted Reagan's Amnesty Bill, Kennedy was not a co-sponsor of the infamous Reagan Amnesty Bill.

I'm certain as a senior Senator, Kennedy had an opinion to share in the press, he's Irish. During those times, the Irish were probably the most dominate of the illegals in America.

You don't know what you're talking about. That is some scenario created in your mind. That's not close to being true, that's the John McInsane campaign lie.

The Republican Majority 109th Congress, 2005-2006, bills were introduced in the House and Senate to revamp the oversight of Fannie and Freddie. The House version of the bill was the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2005, HR1461 and the Senate version was Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S190.

HR1461 was introduced in April 5, 2005, subsequently amended, and passed the House on October 26, 2005 by a 331-90 vote. S190 was introduced in the Senate on Jan 26, 2005, sponsored by Hagel and co-sponsored by Dole and Sununu.

S190 was discussed in the Senate Banking Committee on July 28, 2005 with the result, "Ordered to be reported with an amendment in the nature of a substitute favorably" As a result, the bill died in a Republican controlled committee and never came to the floor of the Senate or back to the Senate Banking Committee for reconsideration. S190 died in committee.

As for the House version of the mythical Fannie and Freddie Reform Bill so claimed derailed by Democrats, here is the archives record on that bill.

H.R. 1461 (109th): Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2005

109th Congress, 2005–2006

To reform the regulation of certain housing-related Government-sponsored enterprises, and for other purposes.

Introduced:
Apr 05, 2005
Sponsor:
Rep. Richard Baker [R-LA6]
Status:
Died (Passed House)

This bill was introduced in a previous session of Congress and was passed by the House on October 26, 2005 but was never passed by the Senate.

The Republicans did nothing on Fannie and Freddie with a solid majority in 2005.

U.S. Senate to Take Up Fannie-Freddie Bill After House Approval
By Brian Faler - July 24, 2008

House members voted 272-152 in favor of the measure, which lawmakers and administration officials expect will be passed in the Senate and signed into law by President George W. Bush. The bill gives Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson power to inject capital into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and provides for a federal agency to insure refinanced home loans.

Paulson overcame opposition within his own party after some Republicans said the bill risked taxpayer funds and fell short on overhauling the mortgage-finance firms. The Treasury chief said the measure was critical to U.S. financial-market stability and persuaded Bush to drop a veto threat.

``This is the most important piece of housing legislation in a generation,'' Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, told reporters in Washington yesterday. Paulson said he was ``pleased'' with the vote and would ``look forward to working with the Senate'' to get the bill to Bush's desk for signing this week.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, intended to take up the bill yesterday before running into a delay caused by Senator Jim DeMint, a South Carolina Republican.

Wishful neo-con thinking again. You just have no clue how far left we are. The counter-culture of the 60's is overtaking the white establishment in the form of left wing Democrats in their 50's and 60's. Peace, love, and, everybody smoke pot. Work for your keep. Pay for where you sleep.
