The burbs are tax exporters, supporting the smaller cities that lack revenue and the bigger cities that waste most of their money.<quoted text>3 times? Most suburbs get $0 in LGA, and yet their property taxes are less than those charged in St Paul and Minneapolis. Sounds like misallocate resources in those cities to me.
I live in a burb that runs on less than $500 per person per year. Saint Paul runs on over $1200 per person per year.
The burb has better streets, services, parks, trails.... So, if this city can be run much better for a fraction the money, why throw our money down the pits of St Paul, Minneapolis or other cities who can not get their acts together.
Maybe we should cap aid at whatever it takes to get that city up to $500 per person in funding. Then, if there is any money left over, give it back to whence it came. That is fair.
