Ohio here; with the latest ruling from Timothy Black in regards to the case of James Obergefell and John Arthur, this will likely be a crtical step in finding the ohio's contistutional amendment unconstitutional.
"This is not a complicated case," wrote Black in his decision. "…Ohio law has historically and unambiguously provided that the validity of the marriage is determined by whether it complies with the law of the jurisdiction where it was celebrated."
So Ohio has to recognize same sex marriages from other states where legalized.
Only in this particular case.

The granting of the temporary injunction in favor of the plaintiffs is a sign that the state is in serious trouble in its own defense. It's the first time I can recall in ANY of the marriage cases where the plaintiffs were able to secure even this much before the case was heard.

One of the reasons the judge may have granted this is because in this case, "time is of the essence".

But I have no doubt that we will prevail on a national level, in the foreseeable future.

Correct, but it is very nice ammo for future cases both in and out of the state.

Unless Ohio has a law in place which specifically forbids residents from crossing state lines to enter into a marriage prohibited in the state, they won't have any leg to stand on and the "community standards" exception would be a tough sell given this case. The standard that the states have been sharing for decades among themselves is about to be federalized on them. If a marriage was deemed valid in its place of celebration and there were no laws back home which prohibited them from entering into it, as long as it wasn't there, the marriage remains valid.

Bravo !!!
Thanks but here's who deserves the Bravos:

Just saw the story where an Ohio judge has ruled the State must recognition the marriage of a SSC who were married out of State!

http://www.topix.com/news/gay/2013/07/ohio-of...

BTW I'm feeling the backlash. I signed up on the New Republics website to post a comment on what someone else had said about the invalidity of the SCOTUS Prop8 ruling. I posted Biblical passages about obeying civil authorities. Today I was notified my privileges were revoked on the site!

They have begun to silence any dissent. Well actually they been doing that for centuries!

It appears that you are in absolute denial Ravianna. Lots of heterosexuals marry but do not want kids...so it ain't all about procreation. Gays and lesbians all over the world are getting married, so why would you say it doesn't exist?

great post. Now can you show me the Bible verses that give you a get out of jail free card for they way you treat people like me (gays and lesbians) when it comes to Luke 10:25-37 (The parable of the good Samaritan) and Matt. 25-31-46 (The goats and the sheep)?

Folks like you have been thumping Bibles on my head for 50 years. So for spiritual and emotional defense I learned your rules and how to use them with you.

"Going to church doesn't make you any more a christian than going to a garage makes you a car. Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behavior does.

Your words mean nothing if your actions are the complete opposite. Having true faith in whatever you believe must be shown through actions; belief is only half the battle.

Let your dreams be bigger than your fears, your actions louder than your words, and your faith stronger than your feelings."

I agree. Look at the hypocrisy the anti gays are showing in CA and PA when it comes to obeying authority:
Are they following the 103 Bible verses I found:
103 Bible Verses about Obeying Authority
http://www.openbible.info/topics/obeying_auth...

or just the six on gay sex?

And where do they get the get out of jail free card when it comes to their actions towards gays and lesbians and the passages found in Matt. 25-31-46?(The goats and the Sheep)

This is just the first salvo in many cases already in the pipeline.

We're likely to get the entire 9th circuit in early 2014, then we wait for one of these other cases in another circuit

The SCOTUS is unlikely to take another marriage case until there are differing opinions in multiple circuits.

That should be sometime between 2016 & 2020.
