Cute, wasn't it? And Obama said, "Sweetie?" We have already established that George Bush is an idiot. Typical Obama supporter to try to direct the focus elsewhere.

Jeff wrote: Yeah, I can forgive Senator Obama for the slip. However, one can only imagine the nuclear style furor if Senator Clinton referred to an African American reporter as a boy. Words do matter, especially if one is running for office. I must have missed that. What was the context?

Calkling a female reporter "sweetie" proves there is not much difference between Barack Obama and the Clintons. Obama seems to have a little "Slick Willy" in him. If he gets elected interns beware.

I am concerned that, if he becomes president, he will make these misstatements to world leaders. There are very few "do overs" on the world stage. It is Bush all over again, remember the dumb things he said and his little habit of making up words that suited his need, because of his lack of intelligence.

Time-Wasting Nonsense wrote: So what do you WANT him to say?? Saying "I won''t answer that" comes off as cold; saying "Not now" is mean; saying "Listen, whatever your name is, hang on a second" is just not kosher. So what, John, in your mind, would an appropriate response be? Barack did nothing --- Nothing --- wrong here, and anyone who believes that he did needs to realize that the 'sweetie' remark is a result of his desire to be nice to the woman. I bet if it were a man, and he said "Hang on a second, buddy" or "Hang on a second, pal" or "Hang on a second, my man" no one would have thought twice. What about Ma'am or sir? Face it, he didn't want to answer the question and he used an offensive name. I have been chastised for using the same term.

Lee, this is not about race and not about not understanding culture. This is about sexism. Mr Obama lost much in my mind with his repeated calling women "sweetie." That reporter is a professional doing her job, just as Obama is a professional whose job interects with hers. Terms or endearment have no place in that business relationship. It would be appropriate for Mr. O to call Michelle 'sweetie' as she is his wife (an intimate, not a business, relationship)- though she might indeed slap him upside the head for doing it in certain circumstances.

What about him saying he is campaigning in all 587 states? The guy has a case of foot in mouth disease if you ask me.

Hmmm… refresh my memory John, did you ever write an article about A**h*** gate? Remember, it is the one about John McCain endearingly referring to his wife as “A**h***”- sweet wasn’t he? Or the one about Cheney referring to a Senator, while on the Senate floor as an A**h***. Now that was classy too. You had two opportunities, so did you take advantage of them??? I don’t recall, but I bet they’d get at least a weeks worth of columns. Unfortunately they are Republicans :(

This is getting funnier by the day. No wonder why most people want this to keep going. TV is crap these days and with drama like Obama on the stump, you never know what you're gonna get...sweetie!

As Barack has said during the ridiculous plagiarism nonsense, let's get real. With all the problems this country has are we going to obsess on a word. Sure, it sounds demeaning to me, but let us do get real. By the way, I have never heard anyone other than an African American use the phrase "upside the head." ...as "they" say?

The reality is that Obama collapsed like a house of cards from simple questions posed by old Charlie and George at the ABC debate. Then for the next 12 days, Obama refused to take questions from reporters traveling with him on his plane. He hid and pouted. These are not the characteristics of someone who is a strong leader capable of dealing with Iran, al Qaeda, etc. On the contrary these are the characteristics of someone who is weak, frightened and lacks the emotional fortitude to be president. Obama is a con man. Nothing more.

People have been fired from jobs for this. I agree that it is harmless but it is politically incorrect in this day and age. Why should a common person lose their job over such a thing but precious don't you dare criticise me Obama get away with it????

You're dead wrong. Before talking about gas prices, Iraq, etc. I need to know a presidential candidate possesses the integrity, honesty and fortitude to get the job done. Obama clearly doesn't. Nothing else matters. Period.
