Of course, I only mentioned a very small number of people. I have never had any official party affiliation either. And right now I would not sign up with either major party. Minnesota has had some reasonable people in the GOP in the past. I don't see any of them now. But then I don't see any reasonable politicians in either major party.
With beauts like Jessie Ventura and Stuart Smalley I'm sure the Kardashians would be like having the Kennedy family in Minnesota.

<quoted text>people who do not make much money do not pay federal income tax. the lower 47% of earners in the US pay no income tax at all, they may get withholding from their pay, but with deductions and such things as earned income credit, they get back what they payed in, if not more.
so veterans, teachers, fireman, any one with a low enough income to deductions ration will not pay FIT.
That's part of the problem, the low income earners shouldn't get all of their tax dollars back, they consume natural resources and benefit form the infrastructure as well. They shouldn't be doing it for free. Those that collect welfare food stamps, section 8 housing and the myriad of handouts don't pay any taxes at all. WE PAY THEIR taxes for them, courtesy of the dem party. Enough is enough. Why do you condone enslavement of the working class to support this inequity, woody?

The rich need our help! "Only Little People Pay Taxes: Why a janitor ends up with a higher tax rate than a millionaire." The superrich don't pay as much as they used to—and thanks to a combination of tax cuts and preferential tax policies; their tax obligations are far less demanding than the so-called little people's. In fact, the very wealthiest Americans' tax burden has been steadily dropping for years, even as they've enjoyed astounding income growth not seen by the vast majority of Americans.
Tax rates for the wealthy have fallen substantially since they peaked in the 1940s. During the past 30 years, they have been cut at a much faster rate than middle- and low-income taxpayers'. Much of the money "earned" by the super rich is paid under along-term capital gains tax, which is considerably less than any high income tax bracket. That's what makes Mitt Romney's tax rate so low, along with offshore bank accounts and other tax evasion schemes that can be perfectly legal.
You missed the part about record numbers riding ssd, ssi, welfare food stamps federal unemployment, in spite of help wanted signs plastered all over doors and windows of surviving businesses. What seems to be the problem LACK OF WORK ETHIC! Too much rich envy and not enough taking care of one's own personal responsibilities.

because we need a working tax system that keeps a viable tax base. skew it too far either way and it will collapse or not work as well, though.

do you know of any working systems that do not have a progressive tax system?

I LOVED the fact that Mittens managed to torpedo his OWN CAMPAIGN with that 47% bulls**t. Hoist with his own petard, so richly deserved. Rich people shouldn't publicly show their racism, class-hatred, and elitism. These days there are too many ways for the info to get out to the public.
Buh-bye, Mittens, take your skanky uptight wife with you! LOL
Yes, those with their hands out and their heads up their azzes decided that the gravy train might stop if somone who didn't pander for votes was elected.

Indeed, but we DO NOT have that, and it's not only because of the rich not paying their fair share. It's illegals on the dole and paying NOTHING in. It's the so-called poor who work under the table and collect other forms of entitlements. It's the individuals who go into debt based on want and not financial capabilities. It's the eternal spending of a entitled gubmint who has spent beyond their means for 60 years. How is that progressive? That's regressive in my book. There is only one way out, DOWN!

Yes it is, I think the wealthy already do, until they use AGI. Do you use AGI? You do file your SSI and federal unemployment don't you?
Odumbo uses AGI.

My accountant does, isn't that part of the problem? I can assure you, I pay more than my fair share in inventory taxes because I am a manufacturer. Why do I have to pay tax on inventory and someone who is merely an investor pays 14% on that income? It perplexes me how G.E. can produce in this country and foreign countries, yet have no tax liability at all. Is that part of your progressive tax systems as well?
