Typical response, Why is it that anyone who posts the facts on global warming is automatically in the pockets of big oil?

It's the left wing knee jerk answer. Don't believe in global warming? Big Oil

Don't believe in Universal Health care or gun control? Neocon.

So it wasn't a personal attack to read my page and then make a snide remark like: "Isn't it time for your next beer?"

So shouldn't you be molesting a child at an inner city school in Milwaukee?

After all I just took it from your member page

Therein lies the conceit.

What an arrogant stance it is to think that something so insignificant as mankind could have a lasting effect on global weather.

Nothing we are doing is changing the weather patterns that have ebbed and flowed for MILLIONS of years.

I can just picture it now, 200 years from now Al Gore the IXth will be telling Congress that the Earth's temperature rising 2 degrees celcius is due to the world saving measures his great great great ....grandfather fought to implemenmt.

Weather is weather, sometimes it's extremem and sometimes it's not. Life goes on

For the same reason you claim that scientists who believe globalwarming is in the pockets of tree hugging liberals.

Senate Rejects GOP Oil Drilling Plan
WASHINGTON (AP)-- The Senate has rejected a Republican energy plan that calls for opening an Alaska wildlife refuge and some offshore waters to oil development. Supporters of the measure couldn't get the needed 60 votes to overcome a Democratic-led filibuster threat.
http://www.topix.net/us/politics/2008/05/sena ...
Please tell me why??
There is a huge oil formation in North Dakota. It is being drilled in as we speak. There is no one taking about it. It should be reducing the price of oil. Why do you think that might be? Because it is all about the Propaganda message, and the Bakken Formation doesn't fit the message.
You don't need to drill in the refuge. It would amount to a reduction of about .50 a barrel (.50 / 55 gallons =.009) Stop listening to the talking heads, the are reading from talking points.

<quoted text>A lot of your colleagues disagree with you...why? Could it be that the conclusions aren't there yet? Science isn't always cut and dried. Some people don't think we walked on the moon. Some people don't believe in the Holocaust. Some people don't believe in God...However, I admire your profession. Thank you for choosing it. I think the work Geologists do is fascinating...what a great job! Good luck with your studies.
Would you mind re-reading my post? I do believe I DID say that all the conclusions are not in yet. We do not have enough data to claim man is the cause of enhanced global warming. Also think about this. Scientists in the 70's were claiming that the world was heading into an ice age. Then grant money started coming in favoring people who were proponents of global warming. Suddenly everyone is on the global warming band wagon.

Like I told your I respect what you do, I just happen to lean towards the scientist who do believe in it. As I said to you in another post, I agree that the whole thing is inconclusive and the facts are still to be investigated. Do you realize that people once thought that space travel was science fiction or that we would never be able to transplant human organs? That you could catch polio from swimming? Some people don't believe in God, some do...it's called a difference of opinion.

I do respect your opinion. But don't you think they have gone too far with things? Do you realize that volcanic eruptions put out far more greenhouse gasses and aerosols than we do? Did you know that when Mt. Pinatubo erupted that it put more bad gasses into the atmosphere than we have since 1900? Did you know that the Pacific ocean is currently cooling and not warming? Did you know they are still looking at the data for the Atlantic ocean but preliminary results point to cooling? Did you know there are indications that the worlds thermohaline currents may be changing and that could lead to cooling to such an extent that the ice age could start?
I prefer to clean up our air not from a global warming view but from a view of for our healths sake.
I believe we need alternative energy but for the fact that oil and coal will run out if we keep using it. The hydrogen fuel cells are something I want to see powering cars/trains/trucks/boats etc. That is clean energy, its emissions are water and heat. I love solar energy.
But if we keep over regulating and constantly condemning people will reject it all because it is either being rammed down their throats or it is costing them too much money.

Good points, and I don't disagree with you on solar energy and cleaning up our air for health reasons I don't think that, that is what Bush is about though, I believe his point of view is destructive. You are coming from a very different place. I believe we have the ability to do the things you mentioned, however, I also believe it won't be done as long as our government is in bed with the corporations who are making record profits, until they can do the same with alternative energy.

Normally I separate politics and science. BUT the last speech I watched Bush give had the usual press conference with questions after it. When they asked Bush about what he was going to do about the high gas prices he SMIRKED yes he SMIRKED at the camera and said that he wasn't going to do anything. He tipped his hand on that and left me with no doubt where he is on that. At least he only has a few months left to further screw things up for the country. Lord I am not eager for the next election to happen. In my opinion the three stooges are the current candidates. I think after one of them gets the Dem nomination the other will run independent. I don't know which of the three is scarier Clinton, Obama or McCain. I wish we could just vote no confidence and make them all start over.

Are you familiar with Jack Handley's Deep Thoughts? He has a very funny one where he says "I wish a robot would run for president. That way, when he came to town, we could all take a shot at him and not feel too bad." I agree, the pickings are slim, but you have to have a lot of...courage(?) to run for president in this day and age. It's become a circus. Frankly, I'm scared.

Because they are.

Scientist who believe in global warming manipulate the statistics to make it APPEAR that global warming is affected by mankind.

Scientists who KNOW BETTER, just post the facts and the proof that global warming and cooling took place long before mankind was industrialized.

Of coarse you do. Liberals never admit when they're wrong.

The point wasn't that yopu asked me if it was time for a beer the point was you deliberately insulted me. You don't care whether I'm having a beer or not, your intention was to question my competance by suggesting I drink and post.

Silly liberal facts and truth just fly by you with relative ease.

OK so we don't disgree on everything. I think this is the best poost I've seen yet!!

Well actually this one and the one it's in response to.

It's obvious you two have had this discussion before, it's also clear you both have great points.

Good job.
