Michael Steele used to step all over himself while trying to defend the indefensible Republican Party. But now that he is no longer chairman of the GOP, and since the braindead Donald Trump was elected, Steele has become an honest man.

I totally agree. He must not be a Republican any more because he has a lot of common sense.

Of course, compared to Donald Trump, a gnat has common sense.
But I do think Steele, freed from his yoke, is telling it like he sees it.

You and your painfully ignorant pack of Trump hating cohorts wouldn't make a nit on a gnat's nut.

Following Walters' remark, Steele said he believes that there is a racism problem within the Republican Party, but that he didn't think that the party was "that way."
"If it were, I wouldn't stay in it," he said. "What we want is clarity on that."

This is about the importance of language. Had the CPAC official said, "Steele was elected despite his essential incompetence because he's black," then it would have apparently factual.

It's hilarious to consider why Steele had not confronted the racism, white supremacism [sic], racist dog whistles of his Republican Party like this before now - because that racism was not directed at him in such a personal way? Or did the dummy just notice the systemic, deep racism?

Always felt bad for Steele, although nobody made him take the job. He's been a token for the GOP for some time, and clearly, he's tired of it. Glad he's spoken out.

CPAC, incidentally, aren't "Conservatives" their neo-fascist wackos and extremists of all kinds. Open racism, bigotry, and hatred are flowing through the corridors of their little convention like sewage.

CPAC is essentially the base of the Republican Party, or the mouthpiece for that base. And it's influential.

Whether the Republican Party or CPAC is made up of little c "conservatives" in any strict way is entirely moot.
