Ehrlich's problem was a sense of vengance towards Gilchrest clouded his perception of Harris' electibility. The 1st is a moderate district, not a conservative district. Always has been, always will be.

That being said, in Ehrlich vs MOM (Act II); Ehrlich will win.

Now to make it interesting:

Ehrlich (GOP) vs MOM (Dem) vs Gilchrest (Ind)- Gilchrest wins

Ehrlich vs. MOM - I can't speak for anyone but myself, but after the recent revelations of state police spying on nonviolent groups during the Ehrlich administration, Ehrlich has lost my support. This comes from an independent who voted for Ehrlich twice.

I would love to see an Erhlich, MOM and Gilchrest race. That's an independent I would vote for!

"Spying went on during the O'Malley administartion also.. at least six months or so, but you don't hear about that because the Balto. Sun doesn't want to report on it or ask the tough questions of O'Malley. Personally it doesn't matter who runs thsi state, they are all spendoholics.

Gilchrest will not be a factor in any statewidw election. His ship has sailed. He can't run and win the nomination as a Republican. His cross party line endorsement ended that. He can't run as a Democrat and upset a sitting incumbant. Independents cannot win in Maryland beacuse the people who vote in the Democrats are (justifiably) happy with their elected government.

MOM is facing severe economic problems and getting mostly high approvals for his decisions. He will win re-election if he runs again - which is a given unless a high profile position opens in the new administration, or Barbara Mikulski declines to run again - also unlikely.

If Gilchrest is the type of republican that Md wants, then we don't need two parties. a socialist democrat and a socialist republican are one and the same...A Socialist!

Kevin:

I don't know what polls you've been reading or what you've been smoking, but the above quote couldn't be further from the truth. MOM's numbers are in the pooper, lower than Bush's. MOM has a huge hole to climb out of, the Dems are already lining up against him.(Don't you love it when the Dems feed on their own?) Howard County Exec., Ken Ulman , may take a stab at the boy-Governor.

Owe' Malley is even worse than Glendening. He has made us even more of a high tax, business unfriendly state.

As soon as I can get the hell out of Maryland, I will leave.

He is a member of a dieing party....the GOP. The party of old, Fox News-viewing white people. You Repubs need to re-group and find some fresh faces.

Once Jackadze Waynie G threw his vengeful rump behind Krackpotvil, Ehrlich's efforts were too little, too late.

Whinin' Bobby Ehrlich doesn't have any appeal - that's why he was a one-term governor.

Ehrlich did nothing as a delegate, nothing as a congressman and nothing but spread lies and evade the deficit as a governor. He couldn't win dog catcher if he ran again.

At the time of the gubernatorial election, Erlich had an approval rating in the 60s.

The reason he lost was the mindless Dem voters in the People's Republic of MD proved that they were stupid enough to swallow the O'Smiley Kool Aid.

You voted to be sure. Now how do you like your governor now? Judging by his approval rating in the low 30s, even your fellow mindless votors realize that you made a big mistake.

Maryland needs more law abiding, working and tax paying citizens like me. You liberals appear to want more able-bodied people with the entitlement and welfare mentality who want to live off of the production of others like me.
