Why shouldn't the government (both federal and state)nhave to do the same thing many of us are doing with our personal finances? I'm on a fixed income and feel fortunate that SS is still sending my check. I paid into it years and years before drawing from it. Many of us still have to make decisions where to cut expenses. I can't afford any but basic TV. I watch how much I drive because I can't afford too much gas and I sure can't afford to buy a more fuel efficient vehicle. Now, let's see, do I cut down on my food or skip my medication so I can afford gas for my car? If we would all stand up and demand that both federal and state cut the governmant expenses we might reduce the debt. Looks to me the first place to start is the number of government employees and some of the high pay some of them receive. I'll just bet if their job is in jepardy they might find a more efficient way to do it. If they had to live on the same income most of us do they might learn how to cut costs.
