But what would we do without the weekly rant on how liberals are destroying our country with their vast conspiracy with the press to misinform the American public. I mean we might just start believing the vast majority of scientists and world leaders that humans are responsible for damage to our environment and should take action to alter course. But hey why should we bother with all of that inconvenient reality when we can just continue to aggrandize ourselves and blythly complain that its the other guys fault..........

The Cap on carbon emissions will cool our temperatures 1/10 of 1 degree in 100 years. It is idiotic to spend billions of dollars on this stupid scheme. From the wobbling of our Earth on it's axis and how much it tilts to the Sun's control of our temperatures, we should back off completely on this ridiculous idea that this warming trend is man-made. The fear-mongers are never happy people. They revel in disasters and spew out negative points of view.

Here's a quote: "We've got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy." Timothy Wirth, President of the United Nations Foundation. This is completely PHONY.

Bud Green and Evolved Consciousness: If Don Polson's column bothers you, why do you read it? I do not bother listening to the likes of Keith Olbermann. He aggravates me.(And he's a complete loser in the cable ratings). Bud Green, you don't subscribe to the Daily News, but you read it. Quit reading it.

I read his perspectives to gauge the level of biased and distorted "information" produced by the far right to provide a counterpoint and hopefully cause people to think more objectively for themselves. The "data" you cite about global warming and the impacts of cap and trade legislation have no basis in fact and indeed no one knows exactly what the impacts of changes will be until they are enacted and evaluated. However it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that the overpopulation of the planet by humans with copious consumption habits will cause severe shortages of non-renewable resources, increased environmental damage, and imbalance of the ecosystems upon which we rely for our survival. The good news is that the earth will be just fine, the bad news is that if we do not alter course it appears quite certain that humans won't be a part of it centuries from now. What those of us on the left have going for us is the reality of our evolution - we must continue to change and adapt our behaviors to the world as our understand improves or suffer the consequences of our ignorance and arrogance as those on the right so fervently cling like a worn-out security blanket. Please, for your own good if not everyone else, question your beliefs, get real, pay the freight, and stop berating those that want to take responsibility for their impacts on our planet.

I was wondering what ever happened to you, Richard Mazzucchi. You've gone undercover.
The Global Warming Crowd are playing on people's FEAR to get this far left wing scheme through. This global warming trend is caused by natural occurances, just like it has in the past history of this planet. Even if we piss away trillions and trillions of dollars, it has been a consensus of environmental experts that the earth's temperature will drop very insignificantly. Any slight rise in temperature will in fact be beneficial to some areas of the earth. Wheat, grain and animal products will flourish for longer periods. Cap and Trade (Crap and Tax) will further bring down our economy. The transfer of jobs to the environmental industry will not outweight the huge loss of today's private sector jobs. Look at Obama's left wing policies and see how our economy is faltering. You should be remorseful, Richard for what your politics is doing to the American people. SHAME. SHAME. By the way, how's the coffee party doing? Sell BBQ's and have a nice day.

Is Richard Mazzucchi still writing a column for our Daily News ? That part in my last posting was: "Even if we (blank) away trillions -- "
The "blank" has to do with urinating.

Speaking of spreading fear, thatís the bread & butter of the rights propaganda. We according to conservatives should fear and thus fight against: Moslems, Mexicans, pot smokers, gay people, and of course poor people, especially those with socialistic ideas. As far as the science of Global warming, its like every other issue. Depending on your source you can prove it to be true or false.

Did someone miss that the data to support global warming was exposed to be false and the data held to further refute this theory was erased by the "scientists."
True conservatives leave pot smokers alone and support helping the government mind its own business. Politicians and their collectivist notions do much more harm than cannibis.

No but apparently you missed the report by the National Academy of Science, composed of experts from all political walks, assessment that confirms that global warming is real. In addition the data you refer to was not found to be falisified, nor were its conclusions incorrect. To blow this one controversy completely out of proportion to question the independent results of thousands or researchers is typical of the Republican party and consevatives that would rather believe a lie than to face the consequences of their self aggrandizement and cavalier attitude towards the planet and concerns of others. As I said you can fight the continuous evolution of thought and consciousness but you will ultimately lose as the consequences of your arrogance and irresponsibility comes back to bite you on the ass....

Don, please spare us from the selected "facts" of a small minority of climate change denyers and your endless demogoquery. Why is it so terrible to you that we take responsibility for our actions that deplete and damage our environs and place a value upon our diminshing air and water quality. Can't you understand the inevitable consequences of more people, consuming more non-renewable resources, on a planet with finite carrying capacity and easily accessible oil and gas reserves? You guys cry so much about creating debt for our offspring and completely ignore the fact that we are simultaneously polluting their planet and diminshing their ability to live as well as we have. So blah, blah, blah all you wan't about how cap and trade is some kind of left wing conspiracy with Wally Herger, while the rest of us take responsibility for ourselves and protect our air, water, and other resources by using our intellects to solve the problem rather than kill the canaries!

This is a good question, Orv. When you get a chance, google up, "Climate Audit", by Stephen McIntyre. I personally believe that we go into periods of warming and then cooling. By the way, both political sides sway us with FEAR. Pelosi just had to have an emergency vote to "save our children" because she said our schools had to lay off so many teachers. Millions more dollars added to our deficit. The reality of the situation was, schools downsized and brought back the exact number of teachers required to teach the kids. A little bigger class sizes, but NO CHILD is without a teacher, like Pelosi insinuated. Here's the kicker: Most school districts that were interviewed said that they were going to "save" that money for future needs. Just FEAR from Pelosi. The Republicans are no better.

There are lots of more articles that debunk the global warming scare. Also google up: Global Warming False Alarms. This is going to make Richard mad. He is hell-bent on the fear from the left.

...

...or, as Discovery Channel eco-terrorist said, "the squirrels."

From AP: "At Lee's trial, The Gazette of Montgomery County reported, Lee said he began working to save the planet after being laid off from his job in San Diego.

"He said he was inspired by "Ishmael," a novel by environmentalist Daniel Quinn, and by former Vice President Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth.""

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100901/ap_on_en_...

Al Gore/Inconvenient Truth link also reported on CBS, MSNBC, CNN but went down AP, CBS memory hole already.

Don't forget that Al Gore's first eco-screed, "Earth in the Balance," was found in Ted Kazinsky's (Unibomer/bomber) hut, dog-eared and worn from use.

Careful, EC, if you start posting in CAPS and putting out a blog and manifesto on the same stuff you wrote above, your fellow commenters may get concerned for you.

Don, do you know if Richard Mazzucchi is still writing for the DN? Hitting him with cold, hard facts just shoots over his head. He says he uses his intellect, but fails to use his common sense.

All of us want to protect our air and water, but this cap and trade is an economic killer. Nature will turn this around again just as it has done throughout the existence of our Earth. These "save the planet" idiots want to spend billions and billions of dollars that we do not have (although Obummer has no problem printing it), so we can reduce greenhouse gases enough to drop the temperature less than 1 single degree in about 100 years. Yes, that's good clear thinking.

Thank you for your columns. Most people read them because they enjoy them and agree with you. Others apparently read them because they are unhappy and see everything as bad, bad, and bad.
Why is the left so unhappy?

To all of you hard workers out there, have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. To all of you who have lost your job, bless you and please also have a great Labor Day. To the entitlement crowd who have never held down a job -- well, this is not your holiday. I am outta here on vacation.

Thank you for your kind words and support. I've developed a rather thick skin over nearly 6 years of stating what most folks around these parts believe anyway. Re: RM, I can only presume he's on vaca like I will be in mere minutes. So, I just don't have a clue. I just happened to check topix again. I don't have much interaction with Chip (who is solidly liberal FWIW) beyond emailing a column and getting a "got it" back. You'll see columns because the topics of AB 32, Prop 23 and AGW are of interest to me and I have had sufficient material to write them ahead of time.

It is abundantly apparent by your posts that while you claim to have a grasp of the facts, you only grasp at the few straws that support your predisposition and seriously consider only the opinions of those with whom you agree. While this is human nature, it is sad when one consistently condescends to others, stereotypes, and fails to appreciate that paying to ameliorate the damages to the environment caused by our choices is the only non-regulatory way to reduce such damage. By the way - liberals are just as hard working as the likes of you and are in general more concerned about others than aggrandizing themselves.

Talk is cheap.

More money, time, effort, and the greatest international humanitarian aid networks are PRIVATE Conservative organizations.
Studys show that Conservative individuals give 30% more and are 18% more likely to donate blood.

From my own observations an overwhelming percentage of those that display of bumper stickers communicating concern about others and those, "aggrandizing themselves" by SAYING they have more concern about others, are liberal.
