Full story: Chico Enterprise-Record

Meg Whitman and her Republican cohorts are like the aristocrats of France before the revolution.

Listen most politicans are all about self interests, its called VOTER interest.Once you get into the political world you involve yourself with a different breed of people (money, big companies, special interests influential people (not your normal people) etc and slowly get away from what you originally got you there.Let me give you an example :lets say whitman was my neighbor (good neighborly friends)years before she struck goal with E BAY with all this newly found riches she moves in a big fancy house meets other rich neighbors lives a totally different life style DO you think she would remember me ?? after all those years "maybe for my vote and "THATS ALL"

Yes then there is Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown who has NEVER had a job outside of government. Never run a business, never had to balance a budget because the tax payer dollars just keep coming. And look at Oakland...and people want the whole state to be like it is there.I'll take Meg over that any day of the week. Look where that has gotten the whole country.

There are no "good" choices in elections these days. It's even difficult to choose the lesser of two evils. What a country!

I don't know how many people there are in the State of California, but it is hard for me to believe that out of all these people, these two are the ones we get to choose from.

Mr. Testman, like so many public workers, seems to confuse private money with public money.

Jerry Brown makes no distinction between private money and public money, which he spends as if it were his own. Brown has said he is ready to put tax initiatives to a simple majority vote. Do you people realize, public workers now comprise a significant amount of the vote in this state? They comprise a "simple majority," and that means, the rest of us pay, pay, pay while they play, play, play.

I've already had to live under Brown as governor once - I don't want to go back to the 1970's. Remember what Jerry said when they forced him to curtail property tax - "Welcome to California - Lower Your Expectations."

Do you really think Whitman is working towards her own self interest? She's spent millions of her own money that she will never get back. I'd call that sacrifice.
.
On the other hand Brown has received millions of dollars from his public employee union friends. Who do you think he will look after? You the taxpayer or the unions that put him in office?
.
The state is insolvent with union benefits packages sucking the life out of the state. That is a fact. Who do you think Brown will protect? given his past, who do you think Brown will represent?

Mr. Testman's letter claims Whitman has two main flaws as our wannabe governor. The first is that she's a multi-billionaire determined to use high public office to become wealthier yet. Her second main flaw is that she cares only about the very rich, like herself, and would change tax policy to further impoverish the less than wealthy for the benefit of the wealthy.

The only estimate of Whitman's net worth I've read is $1.3 billion, somewhat less than Testman claims. If she's successful in putting California's financial affairs in order, should any of us care if she leaves the governorship a lot wealthier. If the state's sour economy over many years now should mean anything to us it's that our critical need is to repair the economy. Nothing in California is going to go well without sound finances and good economic growth. Despite all the campaign claims of would be policies by Brown and Whitman, no one really knows what either will do if elected. Both their campaign positions are designed principally to gather votes, not tie their hands to specifics if elected.

On Testman's point that Whitman doesn't care enough about the poor, Whitman clearly is a ruthless, cold hearted woman driven by a near fanatical drive for stature and success. She's a terrible candidate for a friend or someone to admire. But, the question is whether she's the right person to deal with the state's principle problems. California's problems are too deep and protracted to elected high officials because we think they're nice. We may now need a woman ruthless enough to throw her own family members under the bus for the sake of high ambition and success.

I heard Brown and his aids on tape discussing how to phony up a story make Whitman look like she was cutting deals with a union. Brown and his aids both use the word "wh0r e" to describe Whitman.
.
Jerry you are a real class act. I'm sure real women are pleased to hear you use such a deragatory term to describe an opponent.

How about this: We elect Jerry Brown Governor of the Bay Area, Meg Wittman Governor of Northern California and Nicky Diaz Governor of Southern California. Then we make a deal with Mexico. We will walk in a straight line from the southern boarder until we pass 15,000,000 Mexicans, draw a straight line across Mexico at that point and all the Mexicans have to move below that line and when they move out that becomes U.S. territory, then we move all the illegals down their and that becomes Southern California and Nicky will be the governor.

Then Governor Nicky can start a Mexican document forgery ring. The illegal citizens she is now governor of she can help them get Mexican documents so they can go to Mexico and make $23 an hour there. The only problem they may have is the drug cartel may kill them all before they can be Mexicans again, because they are kind of Americans and have big targets on their backs. But if she can make it happen then they can move and she can move back with them and we will own a lot more land for real Americans.

I don't think that most people realize that our main problems do not stem from the Governorship. They stem from the Democrat controlled legislature. Those are the main fools we've got to send packing.

We know. Today they passed the "Fudget". A worthless effort that took these dimwits 100+ days to gag up on the State. Why do you think some of us don't take it serious; it will have to fall down around peoples ears that depend on checks from State Government to realize they are with a loser, California State Politicians and Unions.

The majority of state legislators are Democratic because most state voters register Democratic. Your comment essentially means the state's main problem result from democracy. In the short run you're probably right that a dictator representing a minority might govern better. Democracy is hardly perfect. But, in the longer run few of us would be happy with anything but a democracy.
