The rich "shipped their jobs to other countries" because of that stupid NAFTA.

Bush 41 gave us NAFTA, Clinton passed it.

"NAFTA has dominated the political conversation in Ohio where manufacturing job losses have devastated the economy. Hitting Clinton on NAFTA has become a regular part of Obama's stump speech."

"The CATO Institute explains that those in the government sector earn 56% more in salary alone than those in the private sector. Public sector employees also have more days off, shorter work days, better health care benefits and so forth."

Cut taxes and cut their pay and benefits. Bring their salaries more in line with the private sector. Let them put some of their salary into a 401K. Stop this insanity. Stop their never-ending list of benefits. If you work for the government it's almost like you are guarenteed a long list of entitlements. Stop this NOW.

Before the Republicans destroyed our country, we had manufacturing jobs with great benefits and pay. I think we should force the rich to bring our jobs home, where they belong and pay a decent wage, instead of using child and cheap labor.

So, you don't want healthcare reform and you want public employees to get less, but no one else? How is this being fair and Democratic. Without benefits, most public sector employees won't be able to afford insurance and retirement. The doctors and insurance compamnies need to take a hit financially. If they didn't charge so much. The poeple and their employees could afford it. Once again, Destroy America, your protecting the rich, while destroying the middle class. Real American.

So, I guess when they get done taking away public employees standard of living and destroying them, they can go on MediCal and try to live off social security.

My commentary was published in the Record Searchlight and I recieved 141 responses the first day. The apathy in Red Bluff is unbeleivable, no wonder our local government gets away with screwing us out of our money with no accountablity.

One has to wonder where you get your money and benefits, that you can so freely give away others money? Come out of your closet...Save America, who are you really?

Good thread, SA. Utah has already stopped lucrative retirement benefits from government workers and they now pay into a 401-K system. About time !!

I read the comments in the RS about Pat's letter. More than half of them were not in favor of her opinion. I guess most people are pretty fed up with city, county and state workers getting loads of benefits while others don't. Maybe it's time to even the pay and benefits out a bit.

I for one do not mind the budget falling on your backs. You people are generally overpaid and under-worked.
