Herger: Cocky, or cowardly?
Either Herger is so smug after 24 years that he sees no need to debate or he's afraid to debate a mentally sharp attorney.
This is the FOURTH debate Wally has declined.
Even the Shasta Tea Party offered to moderate a debate. Jim Reed has been willing to meet with the Tea Party and also attend their debate, demonstrating that he's willing to represent everyone in the district. But Wally wouldn't do that debate, either.
Sure, Wally SAYS he'll debate on the 25th. My bet is he'll back out at the 11th hour, just like he did this time.
What is Wally afraid of? He has always debated in the past. After 24 years he should be able to debate an opponent in his sleep. I guess now he's too lazy to bother.
And yes, I know that after 24 years everyone knows Wally's positions on the issues. After all, he votes with the Republican 96% of the time.
But a debate isn't just about the issues. As the article said, you can go to the candidates' web sites to see their stances. A debate is about sizing up the candidates in person for character and competence.
And Wally is unwilling to demonstrate either.
Very disappointing. I'm sure he'll back out of the October 25th debate as well.
