The Town of Blowing Rock bought the land without ever knowing if it could be traded to the National Park Service. Quite a risk to take with 500,000 dollars of taxpayer money isn't it? Then, after several concerned citizens started researching the issue, it came to light the real reason for the land trade is due to Councilwoman Barbara Ball personal scenic view. Councilwoman Ball's 1.3million dollar home sits overlooking the land to be traded and she orginially pushed for the land purchase to keep her personal view. In addition, Ms. Ball is an outspoken opponet of hunting and wants to keep hunters from continuing to hunt the land that Town of Blowing Rock bought. There should be an investigation into this land trade as soon as possible by the State Ethics Commission or even State Bureau of Investigation.
