Henry, you write that 5 of the 8 GOP Congressmen from Va. voted against the bill, but you left out how they individually voted. That would have been informative.

Thanks.

Nobody seems to want to protect the people from the effect of mass foreclosures. Congress stripped us from that protection when they bowed to bankers and credit card companies and removed the protection of a homestead (i.e. - your house) from bankruptcy. This happened a few years ago, and the bankers proceeded to make all those risky sub-prime loans that are now in default. They wouldn't have done that without a home as collateral. Will our Congressional 'leaders' have the guts to correct this so the people will no longer lose their homes if they have to go bankrupt. I doubt it. Neither Obama nor McCain have touched on this issue. It seems we have the best government money can buy.

all this bailout is is just another run on the banks! Bush's last gasp to stick more money into his rich buddy's pockets. The name of the Bill isn't even pertaining to a bailout for wallstreet. According to the info I received the bill HR 3997 is called " To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps Volunteers, and for other purposes". Now, how does this for a second sound like a bailout intended solely for wallstreet and our economy?

The scum on wall street deserve nothing. This is fraud. People that have good credit can get loans. People who have bad credit do not deserve loans. Bush wants the bailout so the bad paper on wall street will be bought at high prices to line the pockets of the criminals of wall street. The free market needs to sort this out. The bad loans will be bought for pennies on the dollar and in a few years the companies that fail will be gone and America will be stronger for it. With over 11 trillion dollars of debt where in hell do they think the money will come from. They will print it and borrow it causing the dollar to fall more. Inflation will be the result.

I worked hard for my money, raised a child on my own and when the bank told me that I could afford a more expensive home, I told them NO. It was simple, "NO". I have kept my head above water for 60 years. I do not think I should be rewarded with having to pay out my hard earned $$$'s to bail out others because they were stupid and full of greed. Let them fall. This country has been flying high for so long, now its time to come back to the basics of life, Communication within the family, dinners at home, time together. Just think what that could do to improve the USA. VOTE NO TO THE BAILOUT.

Thank you calico! I totally agree with you. It's not the taxpayer's fault that people take on more than they can comfortably handle.

I invite every Virginian to vote against any Virginia congressman or senator who voted for the Bailout. Let them know that they were hired by the people, for the people. This is the only voice we have.

Douglas,
Not everyone on capital hill wanted te bailot. Unfortunately too many of the others did. Perriello keeps calling Goode a washington fat cat who got wealthy while in D.C. Perriello has yet to accuse Obama of the same thing. Obama wanted the bailout. Perriello wanted the bailout. Bush wanted the bailout. McCain wanted the bailout. Goode voted "NO" to the bailout. Who really wants to protect our money? Who wants to take our money and give it to others who did not do what we did to earn it?
