You want to know somethings even more controversial...not securing the border and putting liberal airheads in charge of it.

Doing away with the anchor baby clause would greatly thin the herd of illegals crossing the border like cockroaches. They drain our economy, with their endless sucking of taxpayers money through social services and adding to the prison population.

Employers that hire illegals should have the CEO and HR manager face mandatory minimum sentences of no less than 5 years for each count of hiring illegals, whether knowingly or not.

Reagan made the mistake of granting amnesty for these leeches and we have been paying the price ever since.

Our National Guard troops should be guarding our nation rather than fighting on the other side of the planet. We should tag all illegals, or collar them 'Running Man' Style. Put up a sonic barrier and a camera so that we can watch them explode.

They need to fix their own turd bowl countries instead of slithering into the US.

Wire transfers made by illegals who send our American dollars to Mexico and the rest of latin America, should be taxed at 100%. Companies that assist in draining our economy should be treated as if they hire illegals.

Anchor babies should not get automatic citizenship. This is a big incentive that US still offering to illegals to come here and have babies. The illegal mother once having a baby here, she is secured; we can’t deport her and live the babies behind. Plus anchor babies put a big burden on us, Tax payers have to pay hospital bills, food stamps, schools, housing…etc you all know this. I saw documentary in TV recently that Latin women, get pregnant and when they are getting closer to deliver the baby, they cross the border to USA to have a US born baby.!!! US Citizenship should be granted only if at least one of the parents is US CITZEN. And if the both parent are not US Citizen, therefore the baby should take his parents country of citizenship and not USA Citizenship. This is just like the broken welfare system we have, you see teenagers having babies to get the checks. They anchor babies have no relation to this country only their mother cross the border to have them here. When baby reach 18 years old, they have to right to apply for their parents to become legal residents. STOP THE INCENTIVE, STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATIONS AND NO CITIZENSHIP FOR ANCHOR BABIES. GO ARIZONA

And more controversial is the fact that a Republican President set the precedent that if you all come here illegally eventually America will give you Amnesty.

Compound that controversy with the fact that for the past 20+ years every single President after Reagan did nothing to defend our borders and we can see why America is in this mess.

The past 20 years have been a mix between both parties both conservative and liberal so spare me the BS Liberal this and that crap.

Conservatives and Republicans have proven time and time again that they're not interested in fixing a problem that works so well for their big business campaign contributors.

Cristobal Silverio emigrated illegally from Mexico to Stockton, Calif., in 1997 to work as a fruit picker.
He brought with him his wife, Felipa, and three children, 19, 12 and 8 – all illegals. When Felipa gave birth to her fourth child, daughter Flor, the family had what is referred to as an "anchor baby" – an American citizen by birth who provided the entire Silverio clan a ticket to remain in the U.S. permanently.
But Flor was born premature, spent three months in the neonatal incubator and cost the San Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Lourdes married an illegal alien gave birth to a daughter, too. Her name is Esmeralda. And Felipa had yet another child, Cristian.
The two Silverio anchor babies generate $1,000 per month in public welfare funding for the family. Flor gets $600 a month for asthma. Healthy Cristian gets $400. While the Silverios earned $18,000 last year picking fruit, they picked up another $12,000 for their two "anchor babies."
In fact, the increasing number of illegal aliens coming into the United States is forcing the closure of hospitals, spreading previously vanquished diseases and threatening to destroy America's prized health-care system, says a report in the spring issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.
According to her study, 84 California hospitals are closing their doors as a direct result of the rising number of illegal aliens and their non-reimbursed tax on the system.
"Anchor babies," the author writes, "born to illegal aliens instantly qualify as citizens for welfare benefits and have caused enormous rises in Medicaid costs and stipends under Supplemental Security Income and Disability Income."
In addition, the report says, "many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease."
While politicians often mention there are 43 million without health insurance in this country, the report estimates that at least 25 percent of those are illegal immigrants. The figure could be as high as 50 percent. This is 2005
Not being insured does not mean they don't get medical care.
Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985, hospitals are obligated to treat the uninsured without reimbursement.

Your on the right track but too radical.

This is all very true..

Both Bush Sr and Clinton had between the both of them, given 8 amnesties during their Presidency. Ol' Junior missed out of approving an amnesty during his run at POTUS. Not that he lacked at trying, mind you. He just did not get it pulled off.. Oh well, he got the war he wanted....

If you are illegal here and you have a baby, the baby gets automatic citizenship.

But if you are a diplomat and have a baby here, you baby don't get citizenship.

So we are rewarding who broke the laws.

The point is, our government has affirmed they recognize it applying to immigrants, too, for over a century. By not raising the objection you wish they would have, they have clearly solidified the statement they see it as encompassing children of immigrants. It's rather set in stone at this point, without another Ammendment, which seems unprecedented, writing an Ammendment to distort the accepted meaning of prior Ammendment. You can't expect that is going to be reversed. You may as well pick another battle, because that one is a waste of your time.

""The coverage the press provides can help or it can hinder," the NAHJ said in a release earlier this week. "Using terms like 'illegal alien,''illegals' as a noun, and 'anchor babies' is dehumanizing and by their bias and loaded nature, eliminate any semblance of fairness when covering the [immigration] debate."
Cry me a river. They find everything in the US offensive including our flag. If they weren't here illegally they would be have these terms to discribe them. Whoud anyone care if murder is offended by being called a felon?

It takes a while because it is a long process and we only have a little over 2 more years of Obama. The next election will be won on the platform of law enforcement and deportation and giving the jobs back to Ameicans. The timing is about perfect.

Haha. So, even though educated people are objecting to the term, no one should be "whining" about it. As long as you can make some sweeping generalization you can't support about what "they" do (finding the U.S. flag offensive is laughable), it's all good. THEY (the naturalized citizens born of illegals) are NOT here illegally. You can do just as well continuing to call them naturalized citizens as we did for over a century before people reverted back to condoning the use of racial slurs.
