Radical, Racist Signs Featured At 9/12 March

There are 74 comments on the thinkprogress.org story from Sep 13, 2009, titled Radical, Racist Signs Featured At 9/12 March. In it, thinkprogress.org reports that:

This morning on ABC's Good Morning America, Sen. Jim DeMint embraced the protesters at today's 9/12 March in Washington, DC, saying that he was "glad they're here to take back their country." He characterized the attendees as nonpartisan, adding that " it's not about President Obama .

Members of ThinkProgress attended today’s march and the signs carried by these protesters were hardly nonpartisan — and were often racist, radical portrayals of Obama, despite DeMint’s claim. Some examples of what we saw:

Typical mixed-up she-boon. I never mentioned reparations. The Federal government doesn't run our local police force. The military protects our nation, it does not get involved in our individual states. I'm against Medicaid and Medicare. Show me anywhere in the Constitution where Obama is authorized to control my individual medical care. He's a socialist, I'm against him.
You call this woman a she-boon then in the next post you cry about playing the race card. Well, if you don't want the race card played then stop saying racist sht...ya jackazz!

Everybody in this country has the right to protest. They can either like or dislike Obama. By carrying racial signs...they are defeating their purpose. It just makes people who carry these signs look like poor white uneducated trash.

First of all I decided to look up what the slang dictionary says Mack daddy's definition was, and no where does it say anything about race, I believe a Mack Daddy can be of any race... second, Kenyan now equals Black? I thought that was a nationality. I am sure there are those from Kenya that are not Black. I believe it was Dems and Lefties that regurlary called Bush a redneck, which in case you were not aware of is racial and a term used to put down whites, also he was refered to as stupid quite often, amoungs others. So please don't whin racisim when the shoe is now on your choice in presidents foot. I also believe that you lefties refered to Bush as Hitler very often, as well as calling him a baby killer. Get over yourself!!!!

Dear heart, if someone is calling a black man Mack Daddy (a term for a pimp), or referring to him as an illegal Kenyan alien, there is no other way to look at it but as racism. It's one thing to disagree with his policies, but another to do name-calling. He has been called other names that are not so much racist as stupid and inaccurate. For one thing, how many people calling him socialist or communist have any idea what they are talking about?
And calling someone Hitler is really over the top. As I have said, calling him that is trivializing the
systematic and mass murders of Jews, Gypsies, handicapped people, and any people of color Hitler and his henchmen could get their hands on.
If the purpose is to make a reasoned argument, that won't be the way to go about it, and I have no doubt that other nations are having a good laugh at our expense because of that kind of block-headed stupidity.

Thank you!! How does referring to the President's family as ghetto trash, calling him Hitler, or showing him as a witch doctor do anything to elevate any kind of debate? That kind of rhetoric is nothing but hate-filled ignorance. People who are concerned about how the reform will be paid for, for example, have a legitimate concern.

But signs showing unadulterated hatred do nothing but undermine and negate any validity to their arguments. It only makes them look foolish.

Have you seen some of these people at these rallies? They are poor white trash at it's worst and they are just spouting their ignorance every breath they draw. Texas has it's fair share of them...nothing but stupid a@@ hillbillies. It is not a crime to be poor...but if you are stupid....just keep your mouth shut.

You know what's really sad? Some of the very states whose congressional representatives oppose health care reform have the worst records in terms of health issues like obesity, teen pregnancy, low birth weights for infants, etc. South Carolina and Mississippi are two of them.

It should be an embarrassment that other industrialized nations do a better job of ensuring health care for their citizens than we do here. This country, as rich and powerful as it is, should do no less.

You are so right about the stupidity of many of them. When some of them show anger, they do not mention health care reform, but do a lot of name-calling and demonizing-which is sad because some of the people who only pretend to care about them are just playing on fear and ignorance.
