Afghanistan Withdrawal measure falls by 12 Votes
The measure failed in Congress by a vote of 204 to 215 today.
It was the first Congressional vote on the war in Afghanistan since Osama Bin Laden had been killed. The ranking members of the Appropriations Committee, Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee ALL VOTED for the McGovern-Jones amendment.
The amendment, co-sponsored by Reps. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) and Walter Jones (R-N.C.), gained the support of 178 Democrats
and ONLY 26 Republicans.
