"His proposals are mainstream, widely supported ideas, he said, and they deserve some GOP votes in Congress."

If they are mainstream, then why is there less than 35% support for the current health care reform bill among the electorate? Obama has shown that he has the cahones to go into the 'enemy' camp and debate specific issues. Unfortunately all of his responses were 'talking points' where he dismissed the credibility of the GOP proposals. In truth and fact there has been no GOP participation whatsoever in the health care reform bill negotiations. The GOP has not been invited to participate in the process. They have been kept in the dark along with the rest of America. This is not the 'hope and change' that the people wanted.

I have read some horror stories about this. It seems to be more prevalent than ever.

Um... actually I was in the US Marine Corps for 4 years (2 tours in Iraq)... and I have no problem at all having homosexuals serve with us. I knew a couple of gay Marines (obviously they were only open with those they could trust not to out them) and they were some of the best Marines in my platoon. It was a pleasure being their platoon commander, and each served with valor and distinction.

We should not discriminate against people nor should we get involved in people's bedrooms. If somebody is a good soldier, Marine, sailor, or airman, they should be treated as such. I'd much rather have a strong gay, or black, or latino, or asian, or female in my unit than a stupid or immoral redneck. This kind of close-mindedness needs to come to an end.

It was a pleasure to see a political discourse with a room full of adults.

Politics "lite". The quotes in the article gave the relative impression that the Reich/Moore debates on the Larry Kudlow show are sophisticated compared to Obama debating Republicans. Partisanship over content.

I don't believe your story for a second. I had a tour an Iraq and I did watch my back in the shower. It's a real issue and you guys aren't joking. Stop trying to promote your agenda at expense of us that have served.
