U.S.-Canada border could get security upgrades

Jul 15, 2011 | Posted by: Agent of Chaos | Full story: detnews.com

The push for greater security along the border with Canada is getting some traction on Capitol Hill that's likely to lead to more boots - and technology - on the ground in Michigan.

After that Czech trying to come across in his Speedo, yeah, I'd say the US can use some upgrades at the Canadian border but lets get more upgrades along the Mexican border...like several more drones, and preferably armed in the even they are needed.

I disagree with you, and in no way is our border with Mexico nearly secure. We've got a long ways to go & border towns would be better off with a military presence.

I'm still going to disagree with you. If that was the case we wouldn't still have the large numbers of illegals infiltrating the US daily. There still wouldn't be the concerns there are about extremists being able to easily infiltrate the US via the Mexican border. If you lived in a border town, you would be singing a different tune: Laredo, TX bordering with Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; Roma, TX; El Paso, TX; Naco, AZ; Nogales, AZ; Santa Teresa, NM; Columbus, NM; etc.

It's only going to get worse with extremist groups having placed cells in Mexico too. If you honestly believe we're safer, than you're either naive or ignorant of the fact that national security remains a serious concern now more than ever.

Who's agreeing with you? Pedro and a very pregnant Maria as they stroll by your house with ten little bottom feeders in tow?

Okay, let me understand this more clearly;

The Canadian border is getting a security upgrade, and the Obama administration is arming Mexican Drug Cartels...

And trying to disarm the American populace...

Am I missing something here?

Actually the Canadian border has been in serious need of upgrades due to people trying to come across by water. Also since the revelations of 9-11 and the fact that some entered by way of Canada, and then with the one vehicle that was carrying explosives making it through, legislation had been passed to address these vulnerabilities. It's taken far to long for those changes to have been implemented or appropriated expediently.

As for Mexico, it's still in need of appropriate border security and we should just be glad that extremist haven't taken us to task over the vulnerabilities there.

One minute we are totally broke. The next minute we have to spend millions strengthening our borders.

We now have a threat from Canada? So we have to spend millions to keep Canadians out? Because some guy came across the border is a poor choice of swimwear?

The border debate bores the heII out of me.

I'm sure CMC1 will come address your comment, but since your name is "Sick of Stupid"...then you must be terminally ill with your own stupidity. Do you not understand the difference between a military presence and "occupying"? Apparently you don't. So you're going to tell us all that when the National Guard was ordered to assist BP at various border sites under Executive Order, that it was unconstitutional? You're ignorant.

NONE, I repeat, NONE of the 9/11 terrorists came via Canada.

The U.S. Homeland Security chief has clarified earlier remarks that suggested the 9-11 terrorists entered the U.S. through Canada.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano made the comments during a media interview earlier this week, much to the chagrin of Canadians on both sides of the border.

In a release Tuesday night following the interview, she called Canada a "close ally and an important partner" and said she was simply misunderstood.

"I know that the September 11th hijackers did not come through Canada to the United States," she said in the statement.

The comment insinuates some of the 9/11 terrorists entered the States via Canada, and they didn't. That was the only comment I was responding to.

Seems to me, you need to learn how to read, and re-read.

We need an electrified fence and a moat filled with sharks on the northern border. Who the heck wants a stinky illegal Canadian sneaking into America!!!!
