Medicare is near insolvency. Social Security is in permanent deficit. All of the entitlement programs are truly Ponzi Schemers dreams made legal only because they are hatched by our government. Ending the Ponzi Scheme and turning it into a legitimate personal account is one way to avert the financial collapse. Let's get this done.

Actually SS is solvent till at least 2030.
Medicare there is a lot of fraud by hospitals doctors and recipients.

Government gets involved things get misused as they did with SS using the private interest barring account for wars.

Turning it to a personal account may help. Who will monitor that account. You can't trust insurance companies.

My view is that the government stold fron these accounts and they need to replace the money, If it take a pay cut for them so be it

LOL, so after all the hell the GOP raised during the Health Care debate getting their ignorant base all worked up into frenzy… they now support President Obama’s signature piece of legislation: the Health Care Reform Law?

The tea-baggers might not be sophisticated enough to even realize what just happened. But if they do catch on, these unstable right-wing bigots are going to lose it completely and get even more batshit-crazy than usual… LOL; I got my front row seat and popcorn in hand to enjoy the pure entertainment of this show, LOL.

The GOP budget does not do anything except go after all the same old social issues the Republicans have been pushing for decades. Their cuts to the IRS budget alone will result in losing three times the revenues they are saving by cutting needed programs like Planned Parenthood.

The Teapublicans are the same right wing Christian theocrats who joined with the corporate plutocrats under Reagan. As long as they can push their own religious beliefs on everybody they don’t care if their newest best buddies rob everybody blind.

...Only because the government is Borrowing Money to fund the shortfall. Now it will pay interest on that borrowed money which puts it deeper the hole.

Having dispensed with infantile Patty Cake let us move on to reality. I took a terminally ill parent through the Medicare system last year. I can tell you 1st hand there is so much corruption, bloating, and waste in that system. Even if there is a cheaper more sensible option, Medicare coverage forces either you or the doctors to take expensive route. Tort reform is another issue. There is so much defensive medicine (cover your ass so you will not be sued practiced by doctors). Finally, there are the rampant giveaways. Anybody can get expensive power chairs, glucose monitors, and other things with little or no justification. Lastly, illegal immigrants are bringing in foreign born parents and getting all kinds of coverage

Let's not forget that WE the TAXPAYERS are still footing the bill for Congress's--including the GOP's---healthcare benefits.

It makes me sick that they are "against Healthcare" but do nothing to stop the welfare benefits when it comes to them.

Yes, they do. Without it, the people will become active enough to overthrow the government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.

I don't see any defensive medicine being practiced at all. Doctors know they cannot be sued. They have insurance to make sure that never happens. While it does happen very seldom, those cases are stuck in the media so the insurance companies can charge outrageous fees. It's never a real case, just propaganda for the insurance companies.

Lose an arm, lose a leg, doctor directly responsible? forget suing, you won't even be able to find a lawyer to take the case.

Most doctors know this and there are way too many incompetent doctors doing much damage. Allowing easier suits against these doctors would result in those doctors going out of practice and would improve medical care for all.

Bringing a lawsuit in general is expensive and time consuming. Only the very rich can afford it. The barriers need to be removed so that it is available to the public.

Did you not read the article?

--Sweeney said the GOP budget puts the Medicare savings to a different purpose than Obama and the Democrats favored.

"The president's health care law takes hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare to help fund a new, open-ended entitlement program," he said. "Chairman Ryan has put forward a budget that stops the raid on Medicare and ensures that all current-law savings and future reforms are devoted to saving Medicare."

Other Republican spokesmen echoed Sweeney.

"The fact is that Democrats robbed Medicare in order to pay for their massive government health care takeover," said Paul Lindsay, a spokesman for the NRCC. "Which is a huge contrast to the House Republican plan to take that savings and use it to strengthen that program for today's seniors."

Paul Ryan makes that point quite clear to Obama.

Obama hides Visitor Log Entries

The logs are missing the names of thousands of other visitors to the White House, including lobbyists, government employees, campaign donors, policy experts and friends of the first family, according to an investigation by the Center for Public Integrity.

The White House website proudly boasts of making available “over 1,000,000 records of everyone who’s come through the doors of the White House” via a searchable database.

Yet the Center’s analysis shows that the logs routinely omit or cloud key details about the identity of visitors, whom they met with and the nature of their visits. The logs even include the names of people who never showed up. These are critical gaps that raise doubts about the records’ historical accuracy and utility in helping the public understand White House operations, from social events to meetings on key policy debates.

Among the many weaknesses found by the Center’s review of the database:

• The “event” description in the logs is blank for more than 205,000 visits, including many that involved small meetings with the president and his key aides.

• Five junior staff aides together received more than 4,440 visits. By contrast, then-chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, famed for his workaholic schedule, is listed as having fewer than 500 visits.

• Less than 1 percent of the estimated 500,000 visits to the White House in Obama’s first eight months — a time when the new administration was bustling with activity — have been disclosed, according to the Center’s analysis.

• The logs include names of people cleared by the Secret Service for White House entry who apparently never showed up. The Center analysis found more than 200,000 visits with no time of arrival, an indication that the person didn’t enter the White House, though there is no way to be certain. For instance, actor Ryan Gosling is listed at a West Wing event with members of his band, Dead Man’s Bones, in October 2009. But Gosling’s representative, Carolyn Govers, said the actor did not go.

• Two-thirds of the more than 1 million names listed are people who passed through parts of the White House on guided group tours.

The Center’s analysis is based on visitor logs through February; additional names released in late March are not included in this analysis.“If this is transparency, who needs it?” said Steven Aftergood, director of the project on government secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists. He called the White House visitor logs “very thin gruel.”
