Some cuts make sense, others don't. Not one sentence about foreign spending. Why not start with that?

Among the programs targeted for elimination are Americorps and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

-AGREE.

In contrast, spending on defense and veterans' programs were protected.

-AGREE with Vets programs but the Defense Spending must be cut. End the Wars for starters!

When party leaders initially suggested a smaller package of cuts this week, many of the 87-member freshman class who have links to the tea party rebelled.

Dam Right!

The Environmental Protection Agency would be banned from regulating greenhouse gases, linked to global warming, from fixed sources such as factories.

So DC makes cuts and then the states have to pick up the slack and taxes go up and whatever the states cannot make up require a reduction in employment causing more layoffs. It's all a big scam. The saddest part it they don't even get that cutting funds at that level just forces unfunded mandates down stream.

not only state taxes, but city, county, utilities, school board, property, fees of every kind imagineable and then double fees......

americans are being taxed into the poor house......BULL$HIT spending AT EVERY LEVEL of government is killing american families....

government at EVERY LEVEL is involved in $hit where government should NEVER be involved.......THE BULL$HIT SPENDING MUST BE STOPPED AND PUT PEOPLE FIRST.......

americans have every moral and human right to resist and rebel against this government.

the longer americans take this $hit off of politicans the worse it's going to get.......you now work almost half of your hours on the job for taxes and fees of one type or another, in one form or another....

Does it include congressional pay cuts and termination of their tax-payer paid healthcare benefits?

It forces decisions on spending down to the state and local level where the government is more accessible and accountable to the people. This is a good thing. The Tea Party can just camp on the local politicians lawn until the cowardly dirtball makes the tough decisions to cut what needs to be cut.

Really? When was the last time you went to a town council meeting or a school board meeting? And what was your input and how much did they listen to you verses how many times they raised your taxes?

I say we eliminate the 1930's welfare state. Too many people have made it a career choice!

If Section 8 is not in these cuts, then this is a joke. Too many people on Section 8 that are healthy, and should not have subsidized living. Get rid of it, don't overhaul it, cut it. Next get rid of earmarks. If the GOP is really serious, get rid of pork programs that do not contribute to jobs.
