Since Indiana leased its turnpike in 2006, tolls have doubled and the leasing company said it will default on its payments unless it raises tolls even more.

Sounds like a great deal for Ohioans!

The Turnpike was supposed to be paid off in 1977 when it was to be totally supported by the Interstate act,(often called the Eisenhower Interstate act),. It's primary design was for defense so military aircraft where capable of landing on a one mile straightway every four miles.
The Turnpike commission and it's 700 employees has grown by 4000% since opening 75 years ago! Every time the turnpike shows a surplus that should be returned to general fund they spend the increase on unworthy new projects.
The union opposes private enterprise as it would lose membership of 500 plus employees that average $48,000 year plus fringe benefits!
Indiana privatized it's pike without restricting some fares so the truckers suffered the most and thus, the trucks avoid that pike. Indiana loses both ways, fuel taxes and usage tax.
It's a sensible approach with the proper contract to protect the taxpayers investment and upkeep for the roadway.

Kasich can expect a fight? Really? This guy is NOT a leader. I have seen leaders and Kasich failed Leadership 101 in his first days of office by giving HIS staff pay raises. Pay raises on day 1? All he has done has divided this State and caused turmoil. He has the opposite "Midas Touch". Everything he sticks his nose in, turns to dung. This turnpike deal seems like a bad idea, seeing what has happened in other States.
