I don't understand the cable either unless they mean cable Internet, which then I understand since many people actually are in that residence needing Internet access during meetings. If we are talking cable for television then that is just rediculous.

Oh well four years at almost 500k a piece is still less than 1 Obama family vacation.

What a joke, make the campaign pay for the upgrades to his house and the revenuers guarding him.

I am guessing that it pretty much costs the same regardless of whether it is occupied or not. Strickland voluntarily paid rent to cover his personal expenses. The real interesting information would be how much the state is paying over and above due to Kasich living in his own house.

And, for the record, I would imagine that the cost for a Presidential family vacation is roughly the same regardless of who is in the White House. Big expenses for security and transportation come with the position.

Buzzzzzzzz. Wrong answer. Didn't Michelle vacation in Spain with the kids solo? Stayed at Hotel Villa Padierna, a Ritz Carlton hotel, with her entire entourage.

Not at all like any recent presidents who typically vacationed domestically. Former first ladies who traveled abroad solo did so at least under the guise of "official visits" -- usually some type of ambassador type role. Michelle was arrogant enough to do differently...

Wait, so you are advocating the use of "official visits" to camoflage vacations?

Here's an idea, stay in the taxpayer funded facility provided for you and vacation at Camp David.

GFYS! You didn't give a phuck about what previous presidents did, where they vacationed, how much it cost the taxpayers or what the economic state of the country was at the time. Get over it. Did you complain in May, 2002 when Laura Bush took a solo trip to Paris???

Four years in the White House, with the occasional outing to Camp David starts to sound like unlawful imprisonment.

Um if memory serves, she went to Paris and Budapest and Prague as well on "official capacities" to discuss education and health care and to provide a 15 minute radio address to Afghanistan.

What did Michelle do in Spain? The hint here as that the first ladies who have travelled abroad have at least served in some type of ambassador role or good will role. Michelle did nothing but play Marie Antoinette.

So what do you advocate as the role of the first lady? Sorry, my previous statement stands to the person who told me to go play with myself.

How about we give the president 6 weeks of paid holiday time off each year and he can foot the damn bill himself for his vacations? That's such a strange concept I know, but it works wonders for the rest of us?

You can tweak and twist a vacation into an official visit by using the buzz words you mention above. WTF is an "official capacities"? Bottom line, why is it that anything and everything the First Family does is such a great strain on the country??? I think people like you are scrimping and you're looking around for someone to blame for your problems. You probably bought too much house, took vacations yourself that you couldn't afford, bought gas guzzling SUV's and wide screen TV's. You probably have too many credit cards and now are miserable and blaming the President for whatever is wrong with your pathetic life. Loser!

No I only get 2. And it's tough to get use those due to long shifts.
I know my friends who work at the va have 3 weeks starting out. I was being very generous and I'm sure someone like the president would get the max amount of vacation the federal government allows.
I was merely saying if he wants to go on vacation and the family wants a vacation then he can pay for it. I shouldn't have to foot the bill for his salary and his vacations. It's bad enough by taxes pay for welfare trash to get to live a 24/7 vacation, I'd rather not have to use tax dollars to give the president and first family a vacation that costs more than I'll make in 20 years on a routine basis. It just shows how out of touch Obama is with the American people. Hell I hated bush but at least he usually just hung out at his ranch!
