We can allow alcohol at a function where kids are constantly present, but yet I can't get a prescription for a non narcotic pain medication for my back injury due to the drug problem in ohio....NICE.

The casinos should be allowed at the Fair
The Lottery has space in the Commerce building
Booze at 2 locations
Smoking everywhere

Come to the State Fair, drink, gamble, and smoke
Where else in Ohio can you do that???

This going to be proven to be a mistake I believe, and dangerous. Several other state fairs have tried it and it didn't work well if I remember correctly.

No way alcohol should be served at State Fair. This is the first Goveronor Ohio has ever had that will allow this but he is also the first to say he won't stay at the fair with the 4H kids and he also cut funding for the Jr Fair. Next year "Ohio Budweiser State Fair" as Kasich sells naming rights. Strickland opposed this as did the Taft family and the Voinovich administrations.
One drunk more at fair is too many and the possibility of someone being over the limit and driving onto the freeway after being at the fair isn't right.

I wonder if we'll get to know the name of the moron who thought up this stupid idea.

It's funny how people get all twisted up about the fair selling Ohio made wine and beer at just two locations at the fair. One of those locations is only selling during "adult" concerts.

Alcohol is a legal product in Ohio. It's sold in multiple locations across the state... corner markets in the city to gas stations in the rural areas.

The idea that there will be thousands of drunks rampaging about the fairgrounds is silly. They'll be buying overpriced Ohio made wine and craft beer at 2 locations, not walking around with a 40 ounce bottle of malt liquor or a pint of cheep wine.

If you dare venture onto the fairgrounds, you are more at risk traveling through the dicey neighborhoods that surround the area.

Great! Drunks staggering around looking for a fight, cursing at people and throwing up all over the place. Prediction; either a shooting or a stabbing.

It figures. Selling (more) booze at the Ohio State Fair is just what Ohio needs to be known for. I certainly hope that Kasich allows for and provides money for more people to be hired to clean up the vomit from the drunks.

Selling only during "adult concerts???" A 21 year old drunk is just as obnoxious, rude and dangerous as an 81 year old drunk.

I'm quite sure there have been drunk people attending the fair all along.
They just get drunk before they get there.

Not the venue for it. The purpose of the fair , which is a family event, is to celebrate Ohio farming. There are just too many children there. The problem of under-age drinking would certainly arise.
The Ohio Fair is not about celebrating the breweries and wineries. Those are celebrated regionally by the adult population.
We usually visit during the day and absoluitely will continue to now.

The Ohio State Fair will be showcasing Ohio brewers and vintners in two specific venues, with specific limitations. The purpose is to promote these Ohio businesses.

It is NOT a fair-wide sale of beer and wine.

Ohio businesses can step up and sponsor the Jr. Fair and our young Ohio participants, just as they sponsor the annual Sale of Champions. The costs should never have been borne by Ohio taxpayers.

Every day provides an opportunity for a drunk driver to hit Ohio freeways on his or her way from home, work, or happy hour. As always, it remains the poor choice and personal fault of that drunk driver.

You are so right. I think the most people are missing is that we are talking about wine and CRAFT beers.(I hope) No Coors light. Most people that are used to Miller light will go to the tent have one cup of “REAL BEER” and go Yuk! Then leave. What would be nice is if some people will say Hey, this is kinda good. Boom! One less “swill” drinker.(swill=bud light)

relax Jeannie, under aged kids wouldn't know a craft beer if it was poured over thier heads. Again, one drink and they will be done.
