Victory! E-Verify Bill Passes Through Judiciary Without Major Changes

Sep 21, 2011 Full story: www.numbersusa.com 7
The House Judiciary Committee passed Chairman Lamar Smith's Legal Workforce Act on Wednesday afternoon 22-to-13. Only two amendments were approved by the committee, including one offered by Chairman Smith himself. The bill, H.R.2885, would require all employers to use E-Verify within 2 years for all non-agricultural new hires, while requiring federal, state and local agencies to check current employees as well within 6 months. If they were only "farmers", it wouldn't happen. They're not:

Down on the farm, investors see big potential

They believe food will only get more expensive around the world

NEW YORK Braden Janowski has never planted seeds or brought in a harvest. He doesn't even own overalls.

Yet when 430 acres of Michigan cornfields was auctioned last summer, it was Janowski, a brash, 33-year-old software executive, who made the winning bid. It was so high $4 million, 25 percent above the next-highest that some farmers stood, shook their heads and walked out. And Janowski figures he got the land cheap.

"Corn back then was around $4," he says from his office in Tulsa, Okla., stealing a glance at prices per bushel on his computer. Corn rose to almost $8 in June and trades now at about $7.

A new breed of gentleman farmer is shaking up the American heartland. Rich investors (CONTINUED:)

"The pro-amnesty U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which was the loser in the Arizona case, conspired with House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, to introduce H.R. 2164, which unless amended, will reverse Arizona's significant victory. This bill sounds helpful because it pretends to make E-Verify mandatory nationwide, but it actually ties the hands of the states.

H.R. 2164 pre-empts the states from requiring use of E-Verify unless employees work for state or local governments. That's equivalent to giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens who are currently employed in our country."

Although the preemptive wrangling didn't work, people shouldn't underestimate the lengths that the Democrats or Obama will go through to throw another monkey wrench in. It's passed committee but it's not over with yet. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

TRUE. The fed wants to control the non-enforcement of OUR LAWS and prevent the states from being proactive in the defense of their country and to the greatest scourge of all to the liberals and traitor in the white house - American workers.

This is NOT a good bill because liberal traitors run the country and will not enforce laws.

VERY true, they need the votes as their 'jefe' is losing his ass in every respect, and deservedly so for a serious case of 'buffoonism'! The Obamabots will pull out all stops to retain their position, but in the end justice and common sense will prevail. It's just going to be a bit more painful first, a good reminder of what happens when we drop our guard, become less vigilant and more apathetic.
