Immigration reform: This time, it's different

Full story: The Economist
WHEN Congress last wrestled with immigration reform, in 2007, John Boehner, then the leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives, denounced the bill under consideration as "a piece of shit". George W. Bush, the president of the day, supported it, but many Republicans opposed it, mainly because it granted an amnesty of sorts to ... (more) Full Story

same this different con. there are laws on the books that have not been enforced which would solve most of the issue.

this is just another feeble attempt to make folks think they will do things another way.

the one difference is the huge numbers they will reward for breaking the rules. the next time it will be for 100 million or more and the same song and dance.

maybe the youngsters who did not see the last one may fall for this one,yet if they look around they will see with their own eyes it is a mistake and attack.

What would be different is sealing the border and ending birthright citizenship. Are they talking about doing either? If not, it's just more of the same, as more cast-offs flood into this country.

that would be best for all,yet all i see coming is the same old thing talk and no action against illegals. until things are done this cycle will keep coming back over and over as it has done.

any shamnesty will just call for more. just like all guest worker programs that never keep that guest worker on the job in the same line of work they agreed to do while here.that also calls for more and that cycles goes on non stop and unchecked.

we need a 100% immigration time out for at least a decade.no visa no green cards no more comers until that time has passed.

People. Corporations and small business owners want illegals. It's a proven fact. They will not settle for American workers anymore. They can pay under the table, no workers comp, no health care ETC. They want this to the peril of the rest of us. And until we get worker ID, and worker visa's only, with regulation, we will all be getting the shaft. Rich company's want to pay China's wages and bringing them here or encouraging them to be here just makes it that much more convenient. It's complete BS.And truthfully why Romney lost. He threatened not to facilitate them anymore.
