Of course the Reyes spin machine is going to deny any wrong doing, on the congressman's part.
Congressman Reyes has his entire family on the government payrolls. The Reyes family feeding frenzy at the public trough is sickening!
Disgusting, filthy, greedy pigs!
Time for a change, dear fellow voters! How long are we going to tolerate these shenanigans?

I agree with you, Reyes needs to clarify, among other things, the source of the $32k and if they've already caught the bad boyz from J-town

You keep voting him into office so don't complain. Next time he runs for re-election you better think twice.

Reyes is running for re-election in November. His only competitor for the general election is an independent by the name of Ben Mendoza. If you want to prove something, vote him out of office.

beyond this story, the fact that a dim bulb like Reyes is head of the House INTELLIGENCE committee says all that needs to be said about Congress. And his recent flip-flop to support telecom immunity and warrantless wiretapping of Americans (in the revised FISA bill) is DISGRACEFUL.

But I bet this yellow-dog-Democrat town (I'm a Libertarian myself) will keep voting him in forever.

Like nearly every other El Paso politician of late, Reyes is the symbol of using (read abusing)their offices for personal benefit.

Whether it's all the sweetheart "in the family" public contracts that these leaches foist upon the taxpayers, or the smug arrogance of their own self importance, they seem to be telling us all they are "in power to stay" and we the citzens that pay the bills, are mere peons that must bow down to them.

I look forward to the day when the citizens, with the help of federal and state law enforcement if necessary, exposes all of their corruption and they are voted out for good and a new generation of real citzen legislators, free of all this greed can make this a decent place to live again.

The people of El Paso better wake up and check Sylvestre out. Since when do we get involved in helping Mexican kidnappees to be returned to their families? We dont'e even do it for Americans kidnapped in Mexico. It is a fact that Reyes is incompetent, a follower rather than a leader, who will do anything to benefit himself and his family. WHY ARE THE LOCALS VOTING FOR HIM? ANYBODY else would be better! Your chance is coming up in November ... That is your chance to vote out this slimy, lying, incompetent man whose sole purpose is to provide jobs for his large extended family and to benefit for himself thru contacts. He flunks in character, history, geography and competence ...

ICE memos indicate Mrs. Posselt's brother negotiated the release and that the $32k was raised by the victim's family.

the fact that ICE was called to negotiate the release of a non- US citizen is highly suspect. Seems like Reyes was a Republican who supported good old Gov. George W when Reyes was head of the El Paso sector of Border Patrol then turned on the party and ran as a Democrat to get elected here........everyone knows that we do not ever vote for a Republican from this area to congress. He has now turned tail again and votes with the GOP on most issues while claiming to be a Democrat........if he votes at all, since he is on fact finding missions most often when votes come up where the constituency wants their voice heard loud and clear.

When he first ran for congress, hepromised to be a one term congressman. I voted for him for that reason and have voted against him every election since. I have no idea how the idiotic voters of El Paso can continue voting for a liar.

And you are exactly right. This is the kind of "Representative" we get when people refuse to vote for the BEST person for the job and simply continue to vote "straight Democratic" ticket, regardless how bad the person might be. After the deals with his daughters company and the no-bid Government contracts and her promotions, you would think people would wake the hell up. Apparently not. And in an election year, we can ALL believe that the Democratic Party will cover this up and bury it as deep as they can. I am neither Republican or Democrat, but simply try to vote for the BEST person to do the job for "We The People". And Reyes spends way too much time in El Paso, profiling or whatever he is doing, to be doing any kind of job for US.

They vote for him the same thoughtless way you voted for GW and would vote for " I had other things to do" Cheney. The quote refers to his matter of fact and arrogrant mindset why to chose to take several deferments instead of going to Viet-Nam.

The only good Congressman El Paso had was Richard White
of years gone by. No one is without fault of some kind.
Unless I am missing someone, along came Ron Coleman who
was caught up with check problems and he retired. It seems like sooner or later most all politicians get
caught up with their position & power which ultimately
leads to their down fall. S. Reyes has been there for far
too long. Time to get someone else elected! Sadly, many voters in El paso cannot see furter then the name of
person in office or those vying for public office. The time has come to vote Reyes out. Sadly there is no viable competition and that leads to voter apathy big time.
