Always raising the debt ceiling got us into this problem. We spend too much. This is not a taxing problem. How bout a 10% of the top of every program and a 10% cut in pay for everyone on the government t*t.

It appears that our Ohio senators have the right idea with regard to raising the debt ceiling. However, all the political posturing that has been going on in Washington has got to cease. A deal must be struck as soon as possible. Our elected officials must now do what is best for the country and not what is best for them politically. Rep. Bachman and Palin haven't a clue. They are simply caught up in themselves and are just distractions.

I think that Obama got us into this mess with all the spending he and the democrats have done since he took office. My husband and I work every day and pay our taxes and social security taxes. I expected them to be there but thru the years I have seen the congress us that money for other programs that have nothing to do with its real purpose. We have paid it and our still paying it. So we want it. We deserve it. Obama voted not to raise the debt when he was Senator. Now as usual everything is George Bush's fault. Can't he get over that and take responsibility for what he and his cronies have caused. He took 500 mill from social security for his stupid health care which nobody wants. I have had cancer and I work for my insurance and am thankful even if I do pay 80/20 for it. I don't want the government taking care of me and we bought our children up that way too. I don't think because an immigrant comes to the States and has a baby that the baby should be a citizen of the US. And the US government should take our tax money and pay for it. If they the parents are illegal then that child should be too. And they should not get benefits from my taxes that I work for. Also there so many of our own people that the government has led to believe that it should not take care of them. That they deserve it. I was taught the you work for what you want. Or you don't get it. Also Why doesn't Mrs. Obama pay for anyone on her trips. She and her husband are very spending with are money. If all of Congress would give up a little and all the federal government as the ask us to. It would be a lot better.

You need to go back and do a little math. Top economist all agree that recovery from the recession would have been much more difficult than it is now with out the first stimulus package. We have this recession because George Bush took a trillion dollar surplus he inherited in the first term of his presidency and squandered it away on two major wars, raising the debt ceiling 7 times, and tax cuts for major corporations and Wall Street who have done nothing to contribute to the recovery of this recession but everything to do with creating this recession.

THIS RECESSION WAS CREATED BY BUSH NOT OBAMA!!!!!

We were well on our way to recovery when the Republicans/Tea Party employed physiological propaganda that feed on the greatest fears of the American people but have nothing to do with real politics and regained control of the house as well as several state legislations. They then created thousands of job losses and refused to take stimulus money that would have created more jobs and effectively stalled the steady progress we were making to a recovery. Rick Scott is up to 320,000 thousand job losses at this point. Now the Republicans, slaves to their master big business, for some reason think they don't have to compromise. I guess no one has told them it's still a Democracy. Why don't they have to compromise? Why are they above the negotiation process? Everyone else has to compromise in their daily lives. Why don't Republicans have to compromise?

As far as cronies go, take a good hard look at the billions of dollars Dick Cheney's private company walked away with during Bush's presidency. That is money he recieved by not putting government contracts out for public bid and awarding them to his company instead. That's billions of dollars that led to one of the 7 debt limit increases during Bush's administration; that's billions of dollars he has tucked away in a TAX FREE OFFSHORE ACCOUNT WHILE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE PAYING INTEREST ON IT; That's billions of dollars that is part of our trillion dollar debt that Republicans want to pay off with cuts to our social security benefits, medicare and medicaid. Just in case you haven't been listening. DICK CHENEY IS SITTING ON A LOT OF CASH HE RECIEVED ILLEGALY FROM GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS AND WE ARE PAYING IT OFF WITH CUTS TO OUR HARD EARNED BENEFITS. WHY SHOULDN'T HE BE TAXED ON THAT MONEY??????

The bottom line is to NOT raise the debt limit, but CUT, CUT and CUT.

Congress needs to take the credit card out of B. Hussein's hand.

While he is adding more and more national debt, he is growing government to record levels.

America has less tax payers than ever before and unemployment is more like 15% will all who have given up.

No more debt. Rob Portman disappoints me, however I fully expected Shylock Brown to support Obummer.

News report says life expectancy dropped in this country . Whats the GOP going to do when there are no more widows to rob ? Unemployed people dont pay a lot of taxes . The rich dont pay taxes , the big corporations dont pay a lot of taxes either . Cap the debt limit where it is . Raise taxes on the rich who are not hiring anybody anyway ,make free trade fair to the American worker and create markets for American made goods .

Love it how Bush doubled the debt, leaves Wall Street in shambles and the worst economy since Hoover, but Republicans now pretend that life was rosy when Obama got the keys to the White House. Let's call this what it is: Obama haters want America to default so they can blame him for doing it. That's all it is. The debt ceiling was raised 18 times during Reagan, 7 during Bush. This is all just a bunch of garbage from the tea baggers.

They are the masters of borrow and spend .Trillions lost in property value ,trillions lost from pensions 401 ks and IRA s and they hero worship losers who brought this country to the brink of depression . When will the reps become true fiscal conservatives and not pawns of Wall st shysters ? There is no hedge fund for the weary .

If Congress and Senate would stop threating social security members and medicare people and our soldiers, the people who need their income and stop their own pay and all their fringe benefits they would sit down and come up with a solution fast and stop all the political crap
