It's not "purely out of spite". That's ridiculous.
Texas JUST CHANGED their state law to ban funding going to Planned Parenthood. As such, they are no longer eligible for federal dollars, which cover 90% of this program.
Isn't this exactly what you conservatives want? States' rights? Well, Texas just exerted their rights. The federal government acted accordingly, based on the law. And now thousands of poor women won't get healthcare. And we've cut millions of dollars in "Wasteful spending".
Isn't that a GOP Triple Play?
Exactly! Gov. Rick Perry pledged that they would find state money to keep the program afloat. That is great! I see where Texas faced a $15B deficit last year.

So if the rusty coat hanger didn't work the first two times why'd you try the same thing the next two times?

Because rusty coat hangers are part of the Republican Platform?

Oh by the way, I overlooked the whole "confederate" thing - you know, the only "country" which ever tried to found itself with slavery as a founding principle - because I know you confederates always like to lie it's a southern pride thing. The Civil War had nothing to do with slavery.... And slavery, of course, has nothing to do with racism....
You racist filth. Like we're going to accept the definition of a racist as to who is and isn't racist.
You are a Yankee, condom head, and anti-Constitutional filth. I do believe you pimp your opinions out of stupidity. Of course, you don't know any better because you have been schooled in the Liberal Democrat Party art of running your foul mouth to cover the truth about how the party is going to make the U.S. a level playing field third world garbage heap-this is a Joe Biden/Obama, Kerry/Kennedy trait. Now if you're going to sling feces, learn to wear with pride when it back-splatters.

No, lying cretin, lunkhead Rick Perry's laws require the Obama Administration to stop this funding.
The Obama Administration would like to keep funding women's health, but idiot, misogynistic right wing Tea Baggers keep getting in the way.
No, lying Yankee Liberal butt kisser, the Texas Constitution is law down here in Texas. This is something foreign to socialists like Obama and his Democratic muckrakers like you. He doesn't seem to care about the U.S., or any other sovereign states', supreme laws. You know how it goes-pass it, then read all 1300 pages of what you passed. Sell Mexican drug cartels all the weapons and ammunition they want so they can kill Mexican police officers, and injure Texas citizens in their border firefights.

And women's health is not at issue here-paying for abortions when a person is opposed to it, lying to the Catholic Church and it's supporters of life, telling people what to think and how to live, is. Notice Obama isn't very welcome in most of the border states-wonder why?

We know you racists hate Obama and educated folks in blue states.

I'm glad you didn't contest the main points I made:

Lunkhead Perry passed a law making federal funding of these women's clinics impossible.

"Confederate" means "supported slavery."

As for paying for someone else's health care costs - who wants to pay for your repeated stints in rehab and anger management? But that's how insurance works, Cletus, the costs get aggregated. People wind up paying for other people's problems. It's called "society."

Oh my, did you bump a nerve or something? I thought I was rather exacting in contesting your main points. And as I have stated in other post, it is sometimes impossible for a Governor of the State of Texas to pass a law, since that is the function of the State Legislature. All the Governor can do is sign it, or veto it. Of course that minor detail escapes name callers and hateful socialist who are losing the debate of reason.

And confederate does not mean supported slavery. That's the kind of backhanded statement that tells me you are a bigot and racist.

You don't know me well do you? My name is not Cletus. My name is Willamina Clitus Cliton and don't you forget it Bozo.

Texas wants to go it alone.. Good for them So be it.. Texans are always saying how they do not need the feds. Now prove it.

Maybe enough people will see the folly of rolling back women health services and start to vote Independents, So called third party candidates, and perhaps even more democrats.

The republican party In my opinion has over played it hand.

One would think that would be dancing in the streets down in Texas. They finally broke free of needing federal money.. Told poor women that they will not be getting any more abortions, and ended what conservatives claim is wasteful spending. Happy days for the republican party..

By God Wickerman you finally said something that gives be goosebumps all over about us Texans going it alone. But to prove we don't need the Feds I need to ask a favor of you. Since you have such an intimate relationship with Obama and his administration, would it be possible for you to act on Texas' behalf and demand he kick us out of the Union? You will resolve a whole bunch of problems for the country you know. No more Perry jibs, we can go back to being a true Republic, we can defend out own border with Mexico, become oil independent by keeping it all to ourselves, allow women to have proper health care that is paid for from the state levy on export/import taxes and the money the state will save by removing illegal entrants from the state, and an environmental reform second only to Alabama.

Hey Jethro, the point remains for you racist right wingers that the feds did not withdraw funding the women's health program. That was lunkhead Perry's doing by law.

Which he could have vetoed, but didn't. Also, with all the payola going on down there he can prevail upon his legislators most of the time.

Jedediah, you denying racist, the Confederacy is the only state (would be country, sorry about that loss,) ever to be founded to preserve the institution of slavery. It was the founding principle.

The South's main problem with the North, apart from not liking educated people, was the North's growing antipathy towards slavery, the cornerstone of the South's economy, such as it was.

Aww looky now we start with clueless stupidity.. goose bumps? More like the wonder of how stupid the republican party has become. It really sad to watch a party lose it central message. It is no longer for the working man. It is the party that has become the party for the big business. The party of the religious bigot. The party that finally has lost all sense of itself.

As this Texan law has shown it has become the party that is willing to cut off its collective nose to spite itself.

Though the real question is going to be whether this law will stand in Federal Court. Maybe a little sanity might filter through. Doubtful. But maybe.
