Health Care Reform

Dear Rep. Carnahan, It is unfortunate that need health care reform has become so complicated with 1000 pages of rules. Is it possible to go back to the drawing board with some simpler things like 1) Allow insurance to be sold in any state in the union and be honored in all states 2) allow individuals who must purchase insurance the same type of tax credit that is given to employer's for their purchase of health insurance
3) Get Tort reform with a cap on awards not to exceed the cost of future care. 4) Remove the onus of prior existing condition 5)Allow small businesses to pool their health care dollars to have bargaining power 6) have a federal program to assist persons who loose their jobs to pay for COBRA 7) mandate federal dollars to pay for insurance for those who currently fall through the cracks and have Medicare process the claims rather than set up a whole other new entity. Call it Medicare N (for the needy.) The combination of the above items could ultimately save dollars and achieve the same ends through more competition etc.
One note about the meeting at Bernard School--it is poor judgment to set aside a huge block of seats for union members at an open meeting. The American way should be first come, first served. I believe that was a major factor in the unrest as well as the fact that citizens do not want a complicated health system. They do not like what they are reading and seeing. They are asking you to go back to the drawing board. Unfortunately manners must also be learned.
