I am proud of my Senator Johanns of Nebraska for taking the stand he has and introducing the bill in the Senate to prohibit funds designated for ACORN. It is time for a full investigation of this organization. America deserves it. Thank you, Senators for passing it!

I was pleasantly surprised to see the quick and appropriate response from the senate on the Acorn corruption issue. Frankly, I do not want one cent of my tax money spent on this organization or their goals. There are way too many decent and honest Americans without a job that deserve an opportunity this money can provide. Another thought, the things Acorn provides are unnecessary and it's an opportunity to reduce Govt spending. Why not do so??

While this sounds like a step in the right direction, they will just re-form under a different name milk the system.

Please! How long will the "lie-cheat-steal" of Acorn go on? If the leader of our country was part of this program I am very sad.
Can we find out who voted for this bill? In our rural area of Virginia we hear rumors that the Acorn type groups actually get people to meet and train them to help others to get on programs saying they are intitled to them. Say its not so...please |

The federal public housing program was created by the U.S Housing Act of 1937, which provided capital finding to localities to bild affordable housing units. Public housing was originally intended as a work program and as a way to house people who were temporarily unemployed, or employed at low wages, during the Great Depression. Today, the nation's public housing is a multibillion dollar asset with about 13,000 develpments.
Public housing is home to almost 3 million seniors, people with disabilities and low=income families with children; approc. one million children live in public housing. The last 10 years fraud and indentity theives have been allow to cheat Americans out of low income housing because of sexual favors and this frsud Washington players. |

Was Wall Street shut down when the corporations played dirty or did they get billions in Tax Dollars instead?? We know the answer. Last I heard many CEO folks are still raking in millions in bonuses from the tax bailout money. But these are the super rich, the little guys get shut down, gotta cut corners somewhere, may as well be with the little folks. What about the embezzlement in the American Red Cross- is that organization shut down? Acorn has problems that can be fixed and should be. Shutting the organization down is not the answer.
