Ron Paul's Appalling World View
Rep. Ron Paul, an icon to the libertarian Right and to some on the anti-war Left, gave a farewell address to Congress that expressed his neo-Confederate interpretation of the Constitution and his anti-historical view of the supposedly good old days of laissez-faire capitalism.

From Pat Buchanan's new book, looks like he is another conservative that agrees with Ron Paul's foreign policy:
“We borrow from Europe to defend Europe. We borrow from the Gulf states to defend the Gulf states. We borrow from Japan to defend Japan. Is it not a symptom of senility to be borrowing from the world so we can defend the world?”
“Are vital U.S. interests more imperiled by what happens in Iraq where were had 50,000 troops, or Afghanistan where we have 100,000, or Europe where we have 80,000 troops or South Korea 28,000,-- or by what is happening on our border with Mexico?...What does it profit America if we save Anbar and lose Arizona?”

Being an Internationalist costs us $1 trillion a year. i.e., the estimated combined budgets for the Pentagon, two wars, foreign aid to allies (Saddam and Bin Laden used to be allies), 16 intelligence agencies, scores of thousands of contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan, heavily protected embassies,(including a billion dollar embassy in Iraq that is larger than the Vatican), 716 US bases in 38 countries and US troops in 148 countries. Being an internationalist mean you are borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars from the Europeans, Japanese and Gulf states to defend the very same regions. Being an internationalist means you are slowly but surely turning a free and prosperous nation into a “Debtor’s Paradise.” Taking care of matters at home has never looked more attractive, call it isolationism if you will.
I think it is a funny thing, though, that so-called conservatives take pride in their advocacy for small government and their criticism of welfare; entitlements and handouts. But when it comes to foreign policy they turn into liberals. They want massive military budgets. They want a supremely powerful Pentagon. They want virtually unlimited welfare handouts for Israel and other “allies” such as Pakistan.
Welfare is supposedly bad for people - so-called conservatives call it a crutch and claim people would be better off to be forced to solve their own problems instead of being made dependent - but welfare is supposed to be good for Israel?
What part of we don't have the money doesn't Washington see?

The most important votes that Washington DC has had in the last 10 years has to be the Iraq-Afghansitan wars.
We went into Iraq, a country with zero ties to 9/11. We spent a trillion dollar, lost thousand of American lives and many will be disabled for life. We didn't even get a thank you from Iraq. Was it worth it? Most Americans say no it was not.
Ron Paul was but a handful of politicians that voted against these wars.
We have been at war in Afghanistan for 10 years, twice as long as WWII. And we will be there for how many more years? What are our goals? If and when we leave, was it worth it? Most Americans now say the Afghanistan war was a mistake.
Once again Ron Paul was against these wars and was right.
We could not afford these wars financially or with American lives.
I will take his "appalling world view" over virtually any other Washington Politician.
Anyone care to defend that these wars were necessary and in defense of our country?
