Unions are bad. They ran the steel industry out fo this country and bankrupted the auto industry.

If the union likes a candidate, be sure to vote for the opponent.

Too bad they have so much money to throw at politics.

Unions are a cancer. They have outgrown their premise - improve work conditions for individuals. They are now, a political entity that strives to gain a seat at the Democratic Table of Power.

Unions protect crappy lazy workers, goes hand-in-hand with being a liberal! Especially Unions today DO NOT stand for what their original intentions were 50yrs ago.

UNION'S are victims of their own success. Unions raised their wages substantially above the wages paid to nonunion workers. Therefore, many union-made products have become so expensive that sales were lost to less expensive foreign competitors and nonunion producers.

There is a fundamental problem with labor unions that cannot be ignored: a person can't answer to two masters; somebody has to be in charge.

Just think of all the inane junk that happens because of labor unions. Consider that people are paid outrageous amounts of money to perform non-skilled tasks--often just grunt work--and the resultant price increase is borne by all. You can't tell me that it makes sense for a company to pay somebody 14 bucks an hour in 1984 to put cans on a grocery shelf. That's what I was paid back then.

Or how about the way labor is divided? I know a friend who wasn't allowed to pick something up and carry it from one part of the warehouse to another because it was the work of UNION employee.. Never mind what works best for the company who pays the bills; "protecting jobs" for the unions is the only thing that matters

There is no individual merit system with UNIONS, equal pay for everyone, no matter how terrible of a worker you are. Therefore look at all the lazy City & County Employees public works, parks & rec, street maintenance workers......etc The majority of them do just the bare minimum to get by, or do jobs half azz, because they can get away with it. But I really don't blame them, because there really is no incentive for them to workharder than there co-workers, if all are getting same pay. I BLAME THE UNIONS THERE PROTECT THESE WORTHLESS WOKERS!!

I question the motive of the paper in carrying this story. Are they trying to divide and conquer the DFL'ers so the PiPress can again spout their right wing agenda? This right wing rag tries to hide their bias, but it comes out every day in so many issues they do and don't cover.

Also, it does not matter who the DFL puts on the ballot. They will win in a landslide. Just like we did with Mr. Obama.

The entirecountry is now solidly liberal. The Republi-thugs are nothing but dinosaurs. And we all know what happened to dinosaurs, right?

Mr. Obama has declared war on Fox News......Now it's the Chamber of Commerce.......Maybe next he'll go after the teabaggers! Then it might be a 16 year old girl who disgrees with climate change(or is it global warming). Someday, if you dare to disagree Mr. Obama might declare war on you!

Flying the Union Skies--Labor tries an end run around the law to organize Delta.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274...

No trucks from Mexico, no new trade agreements, a sweet deal for the United Auto Workers at GM and Chrysler, tariffs on Chinese tires, and now Big Labor has another demand of the Obama Administration: Overturn 75 years of labor policy to sandbag Delta Airlines and unionize transportation workers. Will it get that too?

The latest looming political favor features the National Mediation Board, the federal agency established in 1934 under the Railway Labor Act to oversee labor relations in the air and rail industries. A department of the AFL-CIO last month sent a letter demanding that the board tear up longstanding rules requiring that a majority of all airline or rail workers vote in favor of union representation to win union certification.

The AFL-CIO instead wants a "minority rule," requiring only a majority of the employees who actually vote. Under current rules, if an airline has 10,000 nonunion flight attendants, 5,001 must vote yes to unionize. Under the union proposal if only 2,000 of 10,000 vote, and 1,001 vote yes, all 10,000 become subject to unionization.

The timing here is nakedly opportunistic. Two of Delta's unions—the Association of Flight Attendants and the International Association of Machinists—have elections pending in front of the Mediation Board as a result of last year's Delta acquisition of Northwest Airlines. Northwest was largely unionized but Delta wasn't. The Delta flight attendants tried to unionize last year but lost that election, and now the AFL-CIO wants the White House to stack the deck in their favor. Beyond Delta, the new rules would make it easier to unionize JetBlue, Continental, FedEx and short-line railroads, among others.

The further their popularity falls with workers the more money they funnel to 'RATS to skirt and change labor laws in their favor.

"The entire country is now solidly liberal." Which country are you referring to?
America, or Ireland, Mr. Irish MN?(Read your polls next time)
:)

And, you are right; it doesn't matter who the DFL puts on the ballot. The unions will
all line up behind him/her whether they endorsed them or not, as they are owned and
operated by the DFL. I have been in 4 unions and all 4 held their employees back, not
move them up. You can appreciate that if you want, but most of us don't.

Funny, though, for a "right wing rag", the article didn't mention a single repub
candidate. They gave the entire article to your pals; almost like free publicity
during a campaign..........
Me thinks thou doest protest too much.

Unions = Losers! Anything to rip off the state taxpayers with government-backed construction jobs, which are nothing more than irresponsible pet projects.

By the way, if you like your state lawmaker or local leader raising taxes down everyone's throat, then the union is YOUR CALL!!

You are a complete fool. Saying the PP is a right wing rag is like saying CNN, Startribune, ABC,NBC,CBS,PBS, NY Times, LA Times, MSNBC are all right wing. NOT. OBama and the Unions are both failures. It does not matter what candidate the dems put up, they unions will back them. Obama has the unions owning two car companies and soon will have them unload all their unfunded healthcare to Obama care. They do not care for their rank and file.

It’s not just ACORN; SEIU’s Underage Sex Scandal

http://biggovernment.com/2009/09/16/its-not-j...

SACRAMENTO, CA - A former union official and California Department of Insurance employee was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison after entering no contest pleas to charges of child molestation, possession of child pornography, and manufacturing child pornography.

Jaime Enrique Feliciano, who served as a chapter president of Service Employees International Union Local 1000, which represents thousands of Sacramento-area state workers, had previous convictions for child molestation and failure to register as a sex offender.

In September 2008, investigators with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department initiated an investigation into Feliciano following a tip. Deputy District Attorney Lani Biafore said detectives recovered thousands of images of child pornography from Feliciano's computers, as well as images of him molesting a young girl.
