U.S. rethinking lowest-priced contract rule for guarding embassies

There are 17 comments on the Reuters story from Mar 22, 2013, titled U.S. rethinking lowest-priced contract rule for guarding embassies. In it, Reuters reports that:

Lawmakers are reconsidering a 1990 law that makes the State Department accept the lowest bids for contracts to provide private security at most U.S. diplomatic posts, a requirement that can lead to the hiring of thousands of guards based on how cheap they are rather than their quality.

Why are private contractors guarding our embassies when we have the world's best military? Giving a security contract to the lowest bidder is a recipe for disaster!

The lowest-price contract rule was signed into law by G.H.W. Bush.

Big mistake.

It led directly to the Benghazi incident.

You are retarded beyond belief. Did you play football for Steubenville by any chance?
You lie like a jerk off. Barack Benghazi will burn in hell for doing nothing the day Ambassador Stevens died. Maybe you should go to hell for lying about it too.
Until CNN Apologizes to the Steubenville Rape Victim, Change the Channel. Liberals are callous a-holes.

Well, obviously George Bush was responsible Benghazi. There is no way Obama/Clinton had anything what so ever to do with US Embassy security. If you think they did, you are a racist.
No, His Pappy was Responsible for signing the law...... He was in the White House from 1989 to 1993

I don't see how that's racist.....

I wonder if Reagan is still burning in hell for doing nothing the day 241 Marines and sailors died he left stranded in Beirut.

Of course, Bush hide all day in the basement on Sept 11th...

Call me if you can get the state department or white house to respond to that. It should be ask by the MSM, but it won't.

It wasn't Reagans fault you know, it was Carters for gutting the military and his lack of response to saving Americans being held hostage for 435 days.

There is a lot of things that go into letting a contract other than price. Generally the lowest bidder is worst performer and some times the higest bidder is also low performer.

Of course it was Reagan's fault you dumbazz, and I am not going to teach you the difference between Iran and Lebanon.

Reagan put the (mostly) Marines into Beirut because the Israelis and their associates killed three thousand innocent (mostly women in children) people in Sabra and Shatila massacres.

He hung them out to dry.

His fault.

They were held through the political campaign and released on the very day- as he was being sworn in- gosh, what a coincidence that was.
