The official response is eerily similar to previous releases. Fighting words such as 'such disclosures will not be tolerated' makes the headlines, a PR damage control to focus on the whistle blowers. On this particular release, Obama is interested in procedural policy of information collection and storage security probling how it could be obtained and released.

As usual, the focus is not on the vast corruption that has been uncovered.

Yet, the issue is more complex. Before the world-wide information age, there were very similar incidents. Daniel Ellsburg released the Pentagon Papers uncovering whistleblower accounts of vast corruption and war crimes within the Vietnam War effort. The issue was decided then by the courts. Whistleblower accounts are protected as in the best interest of the public. Obviously, in pursuit of justice, whistleblowers must be protected in order to maintain proper accountability of conduct of officials/military leaders. Yet the rhetoric once again condemns whistle blowers. The logic used is not truthful either by Hillary or other officials suggesting that there is potential harm to current operations. In each of the releases, great efforts of due diligence were performed. Anything that could minimally be determined to be sensitive to current operations are redacted or removed. Other "secrets" are not related to ongoing military operations, instead addressing policy corruptions.

Yet there is one more level of complexity. Is there objective reason to believe that the data leaked is compromised? Independent research experts have pointed out that there are many opportunities within the Wikileaks processing methodology for compromise. The releases are 100% digital. The data is first scrubbed by three world news agencies. Even Yahoo admitted after the first big release (Iraq), that in addition to the news agencies reviewing the documents, permission is gained from the Pentagon before it is released.

Beyond the potential for compromise, it is very clear that some of the data is
indeed compromised. Within very embarrassing information released, there are also some very pro-establishment data points that do not pass the smell test. To name just a few examples that have been uncovered: more Bin Laden videos, Iraq WMD "evidence", Iran nuclear program documents.

The way the real world works is not a simple good guy, bad guy ajudication as the political talking heads would have you believe. In the real world, it is eventually declassified repeated dealings of complex double or triple agents as well as intelligence assets (such as Hal Turner) and informants and patsies.

"Diplomatic facades routinely masquerade as realities. But sometimes the mask slips -- for all the world to see -- and that’s what just happened with the humongous leak of State Department cables.
“Every government is run by liars,” independent journalist I.F. Stone observed,“and nothing they say should be believed.” The extent and gravity of the lying varies from one government to another -- but no pronouncements from world capitals should be taken on faith.
By its own account, the U.S. government has been at war for more than nine years now and there’s no end in sight. Like the Pentagon, the State Department is serving the overall priorities of the warfare state. The nation’s military and diplomacy are moving parts of the same vast war machinery.
Such a contraption requires a muscular bodyguard of partial truths, deceptions and outright lies. With the USA’s ongoing war efforts at full throttle, the contradictions between public rationales and hidden goals -- or between lofty rhetoric and grisly human consequences -- cannot stand the light of day.

251,000 State Department documents, many of them secret embassy reports from around the world, show how the US seeks to safeguard its influence around the world. It is nothing short of a political meltdown for US foreign policy.

Insult to Injury

Even after the fall of Saddam Hussein, it still remained a challenge for the victorious power to assert its will on Iraq. In Baghdad, which has seen a series of powerful US ambassadors -- men the international press often like to refer to as American viceroys -- it is now up to Vice President Joe Biden to make repeated visits to allied Iraqi politicians in an effort to get them to finally establish a respectable democracy. But the embassy cables make it very clear that Obama's deputy has made little headway.

Instead, the Americans are forced to endure the endless tirades of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek, who claims to have always known that the Iraq war was the "biggest mistake ever committed" and who advised the Americans to "forget about democracy in Iraq." Once the US forces depart, Mubarak said, the best way to ensure a peaceful transition is for there to be a military coup. They are statements that add insult to injury.

On the whole, the cables from the Middle East expose the superpower's weaknesses. Washington has always viewed it as vital to its survival to secure its share of energy reserves, but the world power is often quickly reduced to becoming a plaything of diverse interests. And it is drawn into the animosities between Arabs and Israelis, Shiites and Sunnis, between Islamists and secularists, between despots and kings. Often enough, the lesson of the documents that have now been obtained, is that the Arab leaders use their friends in Washington to expand their own positions of power.

What a Joke ! To hear the media talk about the 'sensitive information' in the leaks, that might 'cause people to get hurt' is ludicrous ! The material reads more like a 'Dear Dr. Laura' gossip column in the New York times. Wow ! Dangerous stuff !!

I listened with much amusement to Holder's comments about the leaks and the leakers. At the beginning of every sentence came the words,“We are going to…” This is the third dump of documents by Julian Assange. Holder says he plans to explore the possibility of pressing charges. The first dump of classified documents happened months ago and Holder is planning to take action????? What the hell has Holder been doing…answer, not a damn thing.

The Department of Justice could have pressed charges against the non-media outlets that published these documents. They could have shut down WikiLeaks. Justice could have already filed charges against Assange and submitted extradition documents with the countries where he is supposed to be living.

Holder and the Department of Justice have done nothing. Once the attention of citizens has moved on to other things and anger over this issue blows over, Holder and Justice will do absolutely nothing.

Hey dumbass, fascism and capitalism are diametrically opposed to one another. What you really want to say, but don't have the balls to say it is, "Help me overthrow the government of the United States and install a marxist regime with Odummy as the dictator-in-chief." Anarchists and communists have one goal, the same as yours, to destroy our government and abolish our rights and freedoms.

What you saw in November was only the beginning of an awakening of patriotic Americans. You don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of overthrowing our form of government. A word of advice: Move to Cuba or Venezuela.

It is curious that not one monumental blunder, no hint of corruption nor falsification of truth by Obama is mentioned in any of the documents, but they contain so many unfavorable tidbits of gossip regarding other world leaders. I think somebody had to do a lot of editing before the documents were released.

THE LIBERALS CONCOCTED ALL THESE ALLEGED 'LEAKS'.
They selected specifically what was to be 'leaked'.

Ultra liberal billionaire, George Sorrows, was insturmental in creating WIKILEAKS.
He funded this organization.

He appointed Julian Assange, another ultra liberal, to head this organization, and gave him the 'founder of Wikileaks' title.

Wikileaks is closely related to Wikipedia.
Wikipedia was also funded by Sorrows
Wikipedia is not an accredited nor an authoritative source of information.
It's purpose it to revise history.

The Wikileaks of late have specific purposes.
They are designed to steer the public away from Hussein Obma's incompetence, his corruptness, and his embracing the islamic terrorists.

Wikileaks are also designed to keep TSA out of the limelight, and in particular the incompetency of the feminist heading Homeland Security.

Do you actually think the liberal media would damage the reputation of the Hussein Obama administration?

I watched a bit of Hillary's "damage control" speech. She looked a little green around the gills and gave nothing more than the talking points about the lives now threatened by the Wikileaks' exposure.I think she was hoping that we had not yet come across her directive for members of the diplomatic corps to delve for personal information on their counterparts. Such information would include credit lines, frequent flyer hours and credits and so on. Perhaps it was the egg on her face that contrasted so heavily with the green gills.

The latest thing from the department of education is a computerized bank of information on every child attending public schools from kindergarten to graduation. This data, which includes grades, teacher evaluations and test results, will at the end of the day, be used to force a student into a career or occupation, leaving him with no alternatives. Auntie Sam knows all.

And, as someone mentioned in another thread, the Feds want to computerize our medical records so that "if we travel to another state and become ill, the information will be available." This is all, as we know, bull-crap. It is information gathering for its own sake, and the future value it may have in controlling every aspect of our lives.

Technology is a wonderful thing. On the other hand, it is also the right arm of the totalitarian state. We are on the cusp of losing the republic, as Benjamin once suggested. The amount of corruption and criminality that has been exposed is far worse than the antics of Watergate, which ended the Nixon presidency. This is global high stakes, and winner takes all. I hope the teleprompters can help Obama because he needs guidance now more than ever.

More evidence on just how weak O`dumbo is in the eyes of the world. Our country is turning into a third world nation banana republic under this administration. Guess O`dumbo will go on another world apology tour....... or maybe he`ll just call them on the phone.

You can be sure if we had a strong knowledgable president this never would have happened........

O`dumbo is a disgrace to America........

Well, you're close.

It's not "global awakening", it's "global warming"...to which your burning cheeks will surely attest if you'll merely bend over and spread 'em wide enough. Our missles can hit a gaper from 10,000 yards.

And that'll surely warm the cockles of your gaping....heart.
