Run for Governor Pete!

You will need to work the east side of the state to get your name recognition out there. Good luck!

No big loss for the State of Michigan. He was one of the insiders that knew about Bush's illegal wiretapping and went along with it....He never took a position (fro or against) the live fire excercises the Coast Guard was planning for the Great Lakes.....I don't remember him having an opinion when BP was planning to pollute Lake Michigan to add a handful of jobs either......not a strong leader....I hope like hell he doesn't run for govenor

He said this over 16 years ago. He promised that he would serve no more than 2 terms if he was elected. I guess he really wanted those life-time pension and health care bennies that Congresspeople receive first. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm with Hurly. Pete ran on a platform of "term limits" to get elected, then once he got to Washington never mentioned it again.

As for the jobs lost in Michigan, I can't se that as being, soley, Granholm's fault. Michigan was far, and still is, a bit too dependant on a single industry. And that industry, both management and labor, are too slow to resond in the face of change.

Time to re-tool "truck city" into building enregy efficent mass transit, trains etc. I live in GR, and work in Holland. it there were a commuter train, I'd be riding it 80-90% of the time.

Thanks Pete! Take all your ultra conservative pro business opinions with you.
He opposes the TARP money for the auto industry and represents a community that has a huge automotive supply base! That doesn't make sense!? He wants to run for Gov and then continue to be a career politician living off the taxpayers...

Another agonizingly poorly written story......present, past, future......the writer didn't even dare put their name on the muddied mess.

Good buy jokestra a so called fiscal conserative. Who publicly critizes the turtle fence, but on the other hand wants the feds to pump money into every little airport in the area. Some only being twenty miles apart with new freeways conecting them now thats fiscal responsibility.

media, did I mention jobs?

because of hoekstra, sheen, birkholtz,
and gr wealthy sandbaggers.
oh, and isn't the haworth plant closing,
with some 350 jobs....

We should not have mandatory term limits but Hoekstra ran against Vanderjagt on the basis that he had been there too long. He promised to stay only for a certain number of terms and then broke the promise, what a surprise.

He was responsible for regulating the CIA as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and did a miserable job. He let Bush/Cheney get away with murder in the intelligence field. He is unfit for public office.

He sure caved on the Wall Street bailout the second time around the voting table and what changed in the bill from the first one? Pork! Yeah this is exactly who I want to Govern my state. Then after he supports giving Wall Street 800 billion, he votes no on giving the Big Three 15? Yeah Pete you go right ahead and run.
