When Representative Paul Broun of Athens, GA spoke before three hundred people at a gathering intended to lambast President Barack Obamaa s healthcare reform package, he proved that he neither understood anything about dogs and flea collars, nor anything about reality...Broun is, of course, a Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Anti-Tax Republican who believes in the institutionalization of Christian values into our laws.

Clearly Mr. Broun has not read the Hebrew and/or Christian Bibles that really do say each of us is our brothers/sisters keeper.

We are commanded by God to leave the corners of our fields unharvested so that the poor may partake; that we are to only make one pass at our orchard trees so that the rest is left for the poor; that if you see an ox and know it is your neighbors, you must return it to him or care for it until he is able to get it; that you must take care of the sick and infirmed and visit the prisoners in the jails.

Socialism is exactly what the Bible promotes.

"Broun is a theocrat who proposed legislation to declare 2010 the Year of the Bible, and has stated that he will only vote for legislation if it is morally right, constitutional, necessary, and affordable."
So, another dominionist crackpot that needs to be kicked to the curb.

In some ways it's a shame, in others it simply helps the public understand and define the word wackjob. People like him do far more for their opposition than they help and "cause" they claim to support.

Broun is an idiot. Unfortunately, a lot of his constituents are even bigger idiots and believe everything he says. Yes, we do need a revolution: a revolution of intelligent people cleansing the gene pool of a lot of cretins.

Just remember where this all started. First with the Nixon campaign and it got dirty and filled with lies during Bush seniors campaign against Bill Clinton. This is typical us against them good vs evil that the neocon's of the Republican party have been fighting for for 30 or so years. Time to fight back with truth words and the unwillingness to back down.

I wish so many Americans would come up to Canada and see that a little socialism is NOT a scary boogie-man out to get you! It is getting tiring for those of us outside your borders seeing you rant so much about a concept that is far more complex and yet more simple than you may realize, all while the insurance industry is really raping you, and abandoning you in your hour of need.

This hill-billy-sittin'-on-the-porc h-with-a-shotgun-in-case-them- revenooers-show-up thing is getting old, and leaving you behind the rest of the planet. Paying taxes and contributing to the elevation of society does not equate with abdication of personal responsibility - they are not mutually exclusive opposites - in fact, they can go together quite well.

Yes, work; pursue a career that satisfies you, get rich and accumulate wealth. The States has so many wealthy people who are philanthropists, whether quietly or with fanfare. You are already socialistic, whether you realize it or not. Canada does not have as many billionares, but our government services pull up the slack. Not perfect, but something! Universal access to healthcare - regardless of credit rating or cash on hand. It doesn't mean the government pays our rent! It does mean, however, that the military needs more bake sales... which is not necessarily a bad thing.

He ain't heavy, he's my brother. And for those of you about to pounce: someday it may be your turn to get by with a little help from your friends.

60's song lyrics are so poignant, don't you think? Now, let's talk about what Gene Roddenberry would say...

First of all, I live in New York, so I'm not a "hill-billy-sittin'-on-th e-porch-with-a-shotgun-in-case -them-revenooers-show-up" kind of guy, and neither is anyone else around here for hundreds of miles.

Secondly, we have a WRITTEN Constitution in this country that GUARANTEES our RIGHTS. And The Bill Of Rights, specifically the 9th Amendment and the 10th Amendment protects us from the socialism that Obamaniac is attempting to force on us.

And since you're from Canada and favor socialism, I suggest you stay up there away from us Yankees.

And before you go stickin your nose where it don't belong in our business, don't you have any problems in Canada to take care of, or are you in the "worker's paradise" ?

Leftalbuqerque -- We don't claim Daniel P. He hates everything about everything, and we return the favour. Don't let his self-loathing crankiness colour all Americans for you. Some of us know that Socialism is not the bete noir that the alarmists such as Daniel portray it to be. You gave us hockey, could we return the favour by sending you one very used, somewhat bitter and angry Daniel P... I mean it really, really is the LEAST we could do... no no, we insist!:)

No. The Bible does promote socialism. The Levites are given no portion in the promised land because of their responsibilities and thus, the remaining 11 tribes must give a portion to them to sustain them.

It also promotes personal responsibility, social responsibility and community responsibility.

Socialism is NOT some evil horrible thing there Daniel and no amount of your attempting to make it so makes that true.

The Constitution establishes a mild form of socialism when it reads, "provide for the common defense". The list grows longer from there. The 16th Amendment for instance is a form of socialism.

Then there are Presidential and Congressional acts that are de facto forms of socialism, the establishment of the interstate highway system, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and so on.

You just don't like Obama and want everyone to believe as you do without question.

You also clearly think that the state of the nations healthcare is just fine as it is when 1 in 5 CITIZENS have no healthcare beyond their local emergency room. Clearly you think that such care is free. It's not. You and I pay for that in our premiums. Clearly you think that the existant healthcare system is fair and just for all citizens. It's not. The current system does not promote the general welfare of the People.

Unlike Pres. Bush for whom we now have proof, Pres. Obama is not trying to violate the 10th Amendment and your saying so, does not make it so.

Socialism IS Evil. Your constant lies to the contrary just won't work. Have you ever read The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles ? I have.

Why are you SO OPPOSED to the principles and RIGHTS in the U.S. Declaration Of Independence and The U.S. Constitution ???

I have read Marx's "Das Kapital".

Do tell, what is Pres. Obama proposing in National Healthcare that so frightens you?

How does promoting "the general welfare" of the citizens of the nation (as written in the Constitution) by insuring the health of the People violate the Constitution?

Your long on histrionics but short on specifics.

Capitalism, in and of itself, is not good. Unbridled Capitalism is as evil as any form of governance.

In no way am I opposed to the Constitution and its guarantee of rights.

Question for you:

Do you think the current form of healthcare works?

1st Part - simple disagreement - but nothing to state WHY I'm wrong or to prove that I lied.

2nd part - personal attack on me and my patriotism without stating how I might be opposed to the Declaration and/or the Constitution. Again, no direct refutation of my prior which Daniel is responding to.

Conclusion - lacking any way to attack what I said, Daniel again attacks me calling me a liar, questioning my patriotism and insinuating (because he cannot state this as fact) that somehow I must be opposed to the Declaration and the Constitution.

Rhetoric is Daniels choice, not facts, not evidence.

Give him time, he'll insult your Hebrew heritage as well. Daniel is no different than our Pekin Il troll.

Well now. He'll probably find many ways to (attempt to) insult me, that just goes with the territory.

But personally, I don't think anyone is as bad as Pekin, IL person is.

Sometimes, actually more often than not, Daniel actually brings good and valid things to the conversation. I just really disagree with him on this issue.

I'm not sure Pres. Obama has it right either, but at least he is making the effort and SOME effort is very necessary.
