Well, now watch the mass proliferation of crimes being played off as temporary insanity due to unconscious physical activity due to over the counter medication.

Too true.

Congress sleep-legislating.
Bush sleep-warring.
Condi sleep-negotiating.
Cheney sleep-mongering.

Could this be a wake-up call to America ?

Just imagine if you could control that. Tons of work could get done while you sleep.

At the least they could drum up a lot of business for the junk car industry and insurance companies.

They might even start giving 30 day free samples of that stuff when they mail you your policy.

I am having trouble sleeping. I only get 4-5 hours a night. I would like to get at least 6. The problem is that my brain just won't turn off. I lie awake in bed for hours, wishing I could go to sleep and when I do, I wake up a few hours later groggy and feeling awful.

Getting enough good sleep seems to be quite a problem in America today. Most people I know wish they could get more sleep.

Laugh if you must, but I took an ambien and woke up behind the wheel, in my pajama's, no idea and not knowing where I was. It's no laughing matter.
Thank God, I didn't hit anyone while driving.

In my dreams I'm always awake "somewhere" doing something. Now if I could dream that I was sleeping...

I can say not only sleep driving but having memory of anything you do after you take this pill. I have taken it since 2003 and if I am not in bed when its taken, I do all kind of things, call people, with slurring words. "root" around in my closet mixing and matching outfits, decorate the house and in the morning have NO memory of anything I do. It is a dangerous drug but it does work like a dream as long as your in bed.

I just had my 2nd crash and don't remember it,
I remember driving out of my driveway but I don't remember driving 14 miles!
I took out 4 mail boxes and a sign and parked my suv on a walking path to get my mirrors I ripped off and a friend happened along and said i said I was having a bad day! I was slurring and eyes glazed and drolling, and the cops came and did a field acholoe test I failed and the breath one i passed, so off to ER and they charge me with a dui, after 4 hours of them standing over me for a blood test and another field test the doctors told them to get out it was a medical emerency!
well court is this week, I haven't drove in a month and 2 weeks, and i toss the ambien!
I've had every test you can do to the brain and will find out in a month what maybe caused this,
ambein or the genaric is what i took, do use this drug!

Oh Nancy, I'm feeling your pain! I took one ambien back in Feb. and have NO memory of getting in my car and going for a drive. I crashed into a mt. about a mile from my home. When I came too I couldn't figure out what was going on. I had to climb out the window to walk home barefoot in the snow. I was hurt really bad so my neighbor and husband called for an ambulance. Needless to say I was arrested for DUI and was suspended from work. 17 yrs of teaching plus 5 yrs of college jeopardized over one sleeping tablet. I am still attending court and hearings over all of this. For all of you out there saying, "oh, I just do small silly things!" Well, that is how my story started. I would do goofy things that were actually humorous. Well, today I am not laughing. I was booked at the jail by one of my former kindergarten students. The guard that checked on me all night long-I had her kids in kindergarten, and the county attorney-guess what-yes, I had his kids in school too. This has by far been the most humiliating thing that has ever happened t me. I have been set back by probably 25,000.00 easy. Lost income, medical bills, legal fees/lawyer, etc...But, even though it seems bad-I thank God I didn't hit someone and hurt/kill them. Now I am just suffering w/insomnia but I would rather be tired than CRAZY. Please people I beg you to not take this medication. It nearly derailed my life. I found out very quickly who are true friends and who aren't.
