The religious leaders need to be lectured by the lawmakers about separation of church and state
The religious leaders need to be reminded why churches do not sell marriage licenses; only courthouses and city halls sell $35 marriage licenses to the public; regardless of religion or lack thereof
The religious leaders should be made to operate for 3 months with NO tax exemptions; as a reminder of how they qualified for it in the first place
The religious leaders should practice what they preach

It's just a dog & pony show.
Any religious exemption is unnecessary since freedom of religion is already protected in both the federal & state constitution.
Churches won't have to marry any couple they don't want to, but businesses won't be able to refuse service to same-sex couples either.
The Dems obviously have the votes to pass this through cleanly.
