U.S. immigration to treat same-sex partners as relatives

The Obama administration has directed immigration officials to recognize same-sex partners as family members in deportation cases, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday.

My dad, my gay dad, married a woman so she would not be deported, after he divorced my mother who he married because he was confused about who he was thanks to bigots.

You're the one who made the claim that people will say they are "Gay" in order to stay here.....I'm telling you that one doesn't need to claim to be "GAY" because Straights will do it for illegals as well!!!

from what i see all who support and those who are illegal aliens will say and do anything. the only thing neither will do is obey our laws.

now i see why the 2 was placed together on a bill not too long ago.

claiming to be gay may just give them the extra boost as a protected group.

It'simply about treating ALL families as equal.

If you want the government NOT to take marital status into consideration in immigration issues, then you should be protesting that they have always done it for straight folks, not protesting that now gay couples will be treated the same way under the law.

I think what most folks are forgetting (if they ever knew) is that people have ALWAYS been able to sponsor relatives into the country. It happens every day.

It's not always about illegal immigration, or overstaying a visa.

Now, gay Americans will have the SAME right to sponsor their family, in the same way that straigth folks do.

doesn't sponsorship also mean fully support them? if not it should being whoever wants them here needs to step up and make sure they are never a burden of anyone else.

like those who have anchor babies yet others are forced to support for 18 years and longer.
