The ban on gay blood donations should remain intact and become stricter. Without it there will be more AIDS cases transmitted to testers of blood and workers at every level receiving, or transporting the increased percentage of infected blood. Gays hired through some governmental force to test, receive, or transport blood will potentially use the increased percentage of infected blood to further their televised threats to infect America with HIV/AIDS.

It really doesn't matter what other people think because gays will always be gay just like people with blue eyes will always have blue eyes. Nothing is going to change so why this discussion?

The policy has not kept up with the science. Testing has removed the threat, and screening of those most likely to be infected should focus on recent high risk behavior, not gender or sexual orientation. When there is no scientific reason for the ban, the only remaining reason can be prejudice. Laws which discriminate for no good reason are intended to stigmatize and marginalize. Just like DADT, that is the only purpose served by the ban.

This is the problem that results whenever false religious beliefs instead of science are used to shape policy. Continuing this outdated policy is really about stigmatizing and punishing gay people, not protecting the blood supply. Risk behavior assessment,(not who you had sex with but what you did, including risk beyond sexual activity ), is what people should be asking at the blood bank as well as before you go into the bedroom.

First off they test the blood so it's not like they're gonna get HIV even if someone had it. Secondly if you don't like gays why are you looking at gay topics and commenting on them and thirdly you're just as likely to get blood from some nasty sl*t as you are from anyone else. Kthanks

I have given over 8 gallons of blood over the years. To "ban" gay blood is silly for several reasons.

1) All blood is screened for aids before qualified for use.

2) It is impossible to enforce. You are given a form to fill out with questions like , have you had sex w a man, or paid for sex. If you are gay and know of the ban (most people in that community I assume would know) then you lie. So how do you enforce it?

3)Blood is needed, period. The chances of AIDS infected blood passing through all the safeguards in place is slim. The number of homo. infected is relatively small. So to rule out an entire class of people from giving blood that could save 4 lives
(one pint can save 4 lives) is silly at best.

I don't care what the person does. You are just as likely to get aids from a hetero. You are given a choice blood from a homosexual or death, what is your choice?? Personally I choose life!! My brother is gay, I am a mother of three, if I need a kidney- okay well I wouldn't take my baby brother's but not because he is gay but b/c that is my baby brother and I would be afraid of the dangers to him.

I'm shocked, shocked I say that these dirty disease-infested-queers would try to pull this.
Of course the queers want to pollute the blood-supply, they're being allowed to destroy the rest of our society.
The only places queers won't do this is where Muslims live, they wouldn't dare. Queers will have their chopped-off heads drying in the sun on the hoods of their cars when they try to get near Muslim children in Muslim schools.
It's also not a hate-crime for any Muslim to kill any queer in any Western country, let alone in the Muslim homelands.
Queers can be killed with impunity.
It's far more racist to punish a person of color for killing some queer in self defense than for the government to defend a white-queer-murderer.
Official government policy says brown and black people can attack and kill queers with impunity, just don't get caught on video.
Louisville Slugger stocks must be goin through the roof!

You're beyond an idiot. You're an immature, pathetic excuse for a person. They screen the blood. Do your research. You need to wake up and realize that's it's people like you destroying society not gay people. It's so shocking to me that idiots like you can even read and write. Get a life!

If I wanted a man I'd have one but I'd rather eat the pu-sy. And you people? That's just as bad as being racist. You're ignorant honestly. When do people stop being homophobes and stop assuming every gay person wants you to live their lifestyle. I'm gay and I don't push anyone. Be who you want as long as your happy. Straight gay bi Transgender idc I'm not one to judge.
