I had to post a comment to the Battleship Maine article. I ran across the headline while I was looking for websites about Maine, Old Town, and related topics. I am 67 years old and my father, yes, my father, was in the Spanish American War (1898) and he saw the Battleship Maine destroyed in Havana Harbor. I have heard many stories about it and I have an 8 or 9 inch sliver of wood that washed up on the shore and my father picked it up. I was born in 1940, and my father was 66 when I was born. He was born in 1874 and died in 1957 (he was 83). Sorry if I've rambled, but I love history.
