The unmanned crossing makes sense in this case. Mexicans cross over to the US in mass to buy from US businesses. This particular Mexican town is over 200 miles from a border crossing so if an outpost is set up so they can scan their border cards, they can cross over and shop. They can't go far beyond that anyway given the US border patrol has checkpoints set up.
I've lived in Sierra Vista, AZ a few years back. Every weekend Mexicans cross over in drove to shop. Also lived near El Paso, TX and the same thing occurs there. Mexicans drive over, spend money and return to Mexico. If they venture north they run into the border patrol who have checkpoints set up on all highways leading away from border towns.
Why in the hell are you trying to introduce logic and sanity into a discussion of BALD FACED Liars, xenophobes, racists, and teabggers?:-)

Key quote from the AP article: Customs and Border Protection, which would run the port of entry, says the proposal is a safe way to allow access to the town's residents, who currently must travel 240 road miles to the nearest legal entry point. It also would allow park visitors to visit the town.

If the crossing is approved, Border Patrol would have eight agents living in the park in addition to the park's 23 law enforcement rangers.

"I think it's actually going to end up making security better," CBP spokesman William Brooks said.

Illegals don't need a border gate, they cross where there aren't any. The proposal is for Mexicans only interested in "legally" entering the US and returning home. I take it you've never lived near the US-Mexican border. I suggest you make it a point to visit a border city especially on a Sunday. The mass of "legal" Mexicans crossing over is a sight to behold. Illegal Mexicans don't bother with such formalities, they cross where there aren't border officials.

Border patrol checkpoints are often many miles from the border. There is one by Truth or Consequences, New Mexico that is about a 100 miles from the border. Typically they are about 25 miles from the border. More checkpoints now than in the past. I've seen it with my own two eyes. Have been living in the Southwest for over 50 years.

actually, I think it was the national parks and homeland security that came up with this.
Napolitano was a staunch advocate for Open Borders when the citizens in AZ made the tragic mistake of electing her Governor. She defined herself by her total lack of regard for the blessings of being an American citizen. Though she isn't as bad as Heida Solis she proved she is truly anti American everytime she could back the illegal colonization at the direct expense fo the citizen families she was elected to represent. She is one of those Progressive, "Big Brother' Central Planning Cultists like Comrade Pelosi.

This is not an open border issue. Its about resolving a problem for those living in a remote area of Mexico who wish to visit the US legally. Simply allow them to scan their border card and proceed. As it currently stands, they have to drive hundreds of miles to enter the US. Illegals could care less, they cross whereever so this unmanned border crossing is a mute issue for that group.

Legal immigrants and undocumented immigrants who currently canít vote would still not be able to vote in state or national elections. The change in New Haven would have to be approved by state lawmakers.

Malloy will never pass this, so it's irrelevant, but it's already going on in Maryland and Illinois.

*It has relevance because even the the seed of an idea has been planted and can potentially grow. Even the consideration of non-citizens being given the right to vote at any level sets a president which many others are and will attempt to expanded upon.

Gov. Malloy has already right after it was announced came out against it.

But as Paul Revere said the seeds of this are now being planted by this socialist/progressive mayor who obviously doesn`t believe in legal Americans rights and all that is afforded to our citizens. American citizenship, American sovereignty, the U.S.Constitution and U.S.Bill of Rights nonexsistant to this clown and his supporters.
